We scouts are a broken peoples. We waited so long for buffs and are so protective of the progress we've made that some of us are already calling for minor nerfs to the suit and the cloak lest the logi/assault/heavy brigade realize they can't compete and ask for the nerf hammer(which would be the end of scouts forever because we all know CCP hates this class and we'd never get balanced again). We figure that if we ask for minor nerfs ourselves we can avoid the nuclear nerf that would be wrought forth by the the complaining class of this game. I find this sad. that being said, I do miss life on hard mode. You know, having no advantages, less armor, less shields, an unreliable weapons, no CPU or pg - nothing but my own strategy and cunning. That was scouting pre-1.8 and as frustrating as it was, I miss it. I Noted in my corp chat that the only difference between my new militia fit and my old proto fit was a single low slot. But I appreciate the changes made. They were much needed and are a great addition to the game.
That being said, there is a virulent strain of scoutism out there. You know, the slayer scouts. These are the offspring of the slayer logis, the people who abuse game mechanics to gain the slightest edge because they can't compete on even grounds. Back then, they abused the caldari logis 9 slots and 4 equipment a (seriously, how was this suit ever allowed in a game where the scout had 5 slots and 1 equipment), now they are abusing cloaking, brick tanking their "scouts", threatening the buffs we've waited almost a year for and are generally breaking the game. As a scout purist, who runs his proto gallente with 87 shields and 162 armor (or 70/130 bc lol bugs), I find this appalling. It is true that I rarely ever run proto in 1.8- I mostly run militia - I miss the challenge too much.... I may splurge every once in a while on a standard or even an advanced fit if I want to experience the cloak - but I don't abuse it. Even outside of cloaking CCP did a great job of balancing the scout and I'm appreciative of it.
I think what I'm saying, if I'm saying anything at all is that, from this moment till we've purged all the wannabes I will be hunting exclusively scout tryhards. Good day gentlemen!
