I can admit that certain aspects about HAV's are overpowered, even as a HAV-driver myself. The fact that you can have multiple shield or armor hardeners running at the same time and getting a stacked effect for one thing. Then there's the fact that individual swarm missiles do not cancel out shield regeneration, making it practically impossible for swarm launchers to cause any real damage.
That being said, I don't like the word "hotfix". A hotfix is something rash, usually done with little planning and afterthought, and often cause new problems rather than solving old ones.
The way I see it, vehicle and AV imbalance is an issue that needs to be adressed carefully and with due planning. It's not something that can reasonably be fixed with some duct taped solution on the go (unless you have a series or follow-up hotfixes in store).
And to be fair, you have to admit that your history of "fixing" imbalance issues have been somewhat excessive (back during 1.6 imbalance favored AV immensly, in 1.7 imbalance favored vehicles the same way).
I implore you to try and make changes gradually and with moderation this time around.
Thank you, that is all from me. |

Quote:Dear players,
Today DUST 514 is scheduled to go offline for an extended period of time starting from 11:00 UTC. Server is expected to come back up at approximately 11:45 UTC. Today we are deploying the following changes:
* Reduced Large Railgun turret range from 600m to 300m. * Lowered maximum vehicle count in Ambush and Ambush OMS to 2 per team. * Changed vehicle Armor Hardener bonus from 40% to 25%.
Additionally, the following changes were planned to go out during downtime on the 27th. However, during testing we found an issue with the changes that prevented them from working successfully. Rather than delay the other fixes we decided to follow up and fix these with a further update tomorrow (the 28th).
* Vehicle Shield Hardener bonus reduced from 60% to 40%. * Small Railgun range has been reduced from 300m to 200m.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
There's the vehicle applicable part of the hotfix.

It doesn't matter if they call it a hotfix, or a patch, it's still changes to the vehicles regardless.

Nope. Personally I'm specced into a lot of areas. If I tanks are ridiculously nerfed, I can easily switch gears.
I'd just like to see some kind of "break" in this ongoing trend of imbalance tug-o-war.
This is also something that infantry players need to understand. Just because you might feel shafted by the current vehicle imbalance, it doesn't mean you should be hoping for a drastic tank-nerf just to satisfy some misplaced sense of revenge.
That would be childish and counterproductive (and it would only mean that tanks will be getting a buff again further down the line, after enough qq). What you should be hoping for isn't revenge, but balance. |

You would rather have tanks needed than AV buffed? Which is more limiting to game play?

Buffing AV doesn't make tanks useless, however limiting the range of rails is just stupid, they are already the king of CQC and now more so cause people will use it only for CQC. They needed to keep the range and drastically lower the RoF. Nerfing Armor hardeners back to 1.6 without passive resistance or same amount of slots is just stupid. Hardener values were just fine, they needed to make stacking them less efficient, what they did was make stacking the only way to go now.
R.I.P. Pre-1.7 tanks, you will be missed.

Please remember all, that vehicles were causing many players to not enjoy the game. Most tankers and dropship pilots were more than willing to admit this. Some were not, but they are lying to themselves and to us so they could keep their unfair advantage.
Something needed to be done to try rebalance the HAV and infantry interaction. These are hot fix steps. I do not think this is the final stage of a rebalance, or even close to being a sign of the any rebalance direction. These are steps to get some improvement in the situation to us quickly now that the Dev team have 1.8 deployed.
As a Dropship pilot the hardener changes are too much. We will drop below a reasonable engagement time when facing forge guns...BUT I can live with that for the time being is it helps the HAV problem. A serious rebalance will come, and we need to focus on making the majority of the players happier with the game in the meantime.
Most are aware that double and stacked hardeners are the main issue, or one of them, but the changes to address that are perhaps to complex to hot fix in. So in the mean time we should test these changes in the hot fix and feedback.
Also make sure to watch out for 'speaker for the dead minded' and 'he's so not a hero'. As I'm sure they will have a nice little rage some time soon.
