While I've had a very long list of nerfs I have have had to endure, none of them because I was using FOTM, I am finally at my last grasps for hope.
The story goes as follows:
INTRODUCTION I used mass drivers in chromo, back when weapons were almost balanced and the killfeed was varied and no gun was FOTM. Come uprising and the mass driver took a huge hit, so did the HMG for that matter but I wasn't using it at the time. Back to the mass driver; it was horrible. The nerf CCP applied to it in conjunction with horrible hit detection issues with explosions made it so that you could empty an entire clip at the enemy sometime and none of the shots would deal damage. We had to fight in the forums for weeks before CCP did something about it. The mass driver nerf was do to internal playtesting.
then I started taking interest in the PLC. It was in these days that i was having the most fun being a LOGI with a PLASMA cannon. I took pride in it and my favorite saying was "Only real men use Plasma Cannons And no side arms". I was having so much fun with it that I Decided to shell up the cash and get myself a recording device to share my experience with the weapon.
THE DECLINE
after aim assist the Plasma Cannon did not perform the same. Where I would go usually 10 to 15 kills per match without a side arm, I now averaged 7 to 10. People did not need skill anymore and so the plasma cannon, a weapon that is only good when being skilled, was a dying breed in an already short population of users. While the plasma Cannon did not get a direct nerf, aim assist was one of the biggest hits to it. Smart positioning and planned out engagements where not enough anymore because people would still hit you even through walls, a problem that persists to this day. I still had hopes though, the plasma cannon wasn't everything in my dust career, I was a full time logi at the time and not a slayer. These changes affected only the gun game I didn't need most of the time and was only used in emergencies when the flight aspect of my instinct would not help me stay alive. It was in this time that I started to use the heavy machine gun.
While using the Heavy machine gun, I noticed a few inconsistencies and started asking about peoples experience with the weapon and what they thought was wrong with it. I concluded, with some internal testing and a few hints from the community about accuracy, that the problem was that it functioned like a laser rifle because it was too accurate. By this time The plasma cannon was barely useful and so there was a decline in my videos for it. I Made an HMG video for the community to see what the problem was with the heavy and, after some waiting, it finally got fixed.
BOILING POINT
With the inclusion of better hit detection, new unbalanced weapons and unbalanced introduction of tanks, DUST 514 turned into a game I could barely play, let alone make videos for. The broken mechanics, some of which are still in dust in 1.8 (tanks and redline sniping and rail tanking, made it so that only these mechanics could beat each other making for n1+1 gameplay. It made it so that I just did not care and even though I started on videos, I usually stopped half way and, just did not finish them. I half stayed playing because of some of the events but my DUST morale was and all time low.
A CRUSHING BLOW
In comes 1.8. My last class was crushed; THE TRUE LOGI. With a carpet nerf to equipment, logi's can now only use 1 type of equipment efficiently, yet no changes where made to the slayer logi's. I dreaded the coming of 1.8 but, it was far from what I expected. Even though I could use equipment less efficiently, The game was so balanced for once and for all that I did not notice. Heavies where good enough in CQC that they where actually being used to defend points and where seen using HMG's instead of rail rifles, The scouts got their much needed buff and all was well. I finally though I would get enough interest to make more videos but then the worst happens. Before the day is done, I find out that CCP is going to nerf heavies by 20% of their EHP. Totally uncalled for and only based on internal testing that does not reflect how the game is actually played.
MY FEELINGS UP TO THIS WRITING
I got interested once again and lost all interest in a cycle that took less than 24 hours. While I cannot say I am going to stop playing dust, I am definitely in the first stage which is not caring. I don't care for logging on, although it's a bit sad that I still care enough to type a very boring post on the forums. I don't care for making more videos because the effort is just not worth it. I am overall disappointed that everything i have used thus far has been nerfed, or broken to begin with. Now that the game is finally getting more balanced CCP is going to nerf a class before it get off the ground. I only Hope CCP rethinks this uncalled heavy nerf. It just feels like it will be one more drop on the stone that could break at any moment.

You see, I have invested heavily in this game and it's not that heavies are getting nerfed. It's the simple fact that Everything has been done in a manner that is not consistent and for the wrong reasons.
The game has not been balanced once, in a manner consistent with real gameplay.
Heavies are just the top of the iceberg. I have 3 proto suits and 5 proto weapons. I have all proto equipment except for scanner and now cloaks which i now have at level three.
I just can't justify doing anything in the game because broken things like the PLC will never get fixed and the things that do get fixed; I.E. the heavies just get enrfed again for completely unjustified reason.
The heavy in not the reason, the whole idea of the nerf unnerf cycle is what breaks this game for me. It hinders their ability to focus on the really broken stuff. It hinders them from making new and engaging content. OVERALL it break the overall fun of the game.
The best example I can give you is the plasma cannon. I knew it was bad but then had to unlearn it and swore by it. It was a weapon that was misunderstood but perfectly balanced for and anticuated style of gameplay but at the time, It was the only weapon ever to be release in a well balanced fashion from it's first day

Although having joined Dust just over six months ago you don't think I feel your pain, I do. The AR was hit hard by the CR and RR introduction. It's optimal range was medium and even then the CR beats it.
Some people will try to tell you Minmatar Logi in 1.7 wasn't a difficult suit to use. But it really was because it's the only thing I could go proto with, meaning I was stuck with it and the AR. The weakest suit and weapon besides PLC and Commando. If you had other suits to use for combat, then Min Logi would've been fine. But that thing was just not meant for combat.
And to be blunt with you, I don't see how the slayer logi is still viable. Without that passive bonus you have to fit a complex armor repair now. And nanohives are terrible.
Heavies can be killed from 30 meters away without much hazard. If you play a heavy with an hmg for a whole week you would understand. We have every disadvantage at ranges above 20 meters abd at 31 meters we do about 50% of our paper damage. You can take you time killing a heavy, just dont expect to rush him. Although i am 2 shottimng heavies with a bvasic breach shotgun.
