Caldari Scout - It can see you, period. You can't sneak up on it because it can see you. You think you may be unseen when cloaked, but nope, it can still see you (passively). It is quick, nimble, and agile, and it sees all.
Gallente Scout - It can't be seen. This is the suit that lurks in the space between space. The suit that incites fear in those hacking objectives that they "think" is clear. Your body will hit the ground before you even hear the POING of its Creodron Shotgun.
Minmatar Scout - The suit that will hack the objective faster than you can blink. The real pain in the ass scout that will cancel your hack or hack the point before you can do anything about it. Like the Gallente, this scout is also feared as it may be lurking in the aether guarding that objective that you believe is clear.
Amarr Scout - The scout that looks the sexiest at prototype level........um.........wait..........that's it.
As you can see, every other scout has a strength, something that makes it feared on the battlefield per se. The Amarr Scout literally has NOTHING about it that is a strength or makes it feared. Yes it has the ability to tank and become Amarr Assault part dos, but that completely negates the fact of being a scout.
All the other scouts are faster, more agile, and can even outrun the Amarr Scout distance wise (yes I tested this) even with its stamina bonuses. The Amarr Scout has no role on the battlefield besides being a suit for we Amarrian RP'ers. I hate to accuse CCP of this, but the Amarr Scout truly and honestly feels like a suit that was thrown in the game to shut me and other Amarr loyalists up from complaining about the fact it wasn't in the game.
Anyone with half a mind could see on paper prior to 1.8 that the Amarr Scout was complete s***. We all brought this up in constructive threads, but they all went ignored and unanswered. I figured I would wait until 1.8 to actually EXPERIENCE the Amarr Scout and its use. The verdict is it is under-powered because it has not STRENGTH, there is absolutely nothing about the Amarr Scout that makes it shine besides its golden plates at ADV tier.
I mean hey, if you want an award for making a suit look like Nightwing from DC Comics, congratulations, you did a pretty fine job. As far as making a viable suit that is an equal to other scout suits and has a strength, I'm sorry CCP, but you missed the mark.
I could list the ways how we Amarr are better than you, but your lesser mind wouldn't comprehend it.

Please don't tell me you think the Min Scout is a viable option. It is the worst scout, it's not even close. If you want to argue that its somehow better than Amarr at adv or Proto idk what to say.
Amarr scouts are currently doing very well with eHP + cloak. Just don't tell me you want to Amarr to excel at the Gal niche again, please. Don't give me the BS that its better than Min scout, but it could use a paint job.

Minimatar hack faster and for that they have what half or a third of the armor?
Gallente see further and are stealthier but the STD suit has 1 equipment slot and 2 Low, 1 high
Amarr STD is a nice suit to learn scouting in and make money off if you don't belong to a PC corp. I do think it should get innate armor repair as per the old Logi's to make it a very self reliant unit... Afterall stamina is for sprinting and the rest of your team won't be near you.
I can see a RE cloaked Amarr being very effective at defending an objective remotely and moving on to another site with impunity. With a shotgun it will be able to gun and run and survive most encounters.
A paper thin Minimatar is going to have to be more selective about encounters and whilst hacking is nice it is highly situational and nova knives is a niche weapon best paired with stealth... Hacking a location gives your location away... It can be used as a honey pot.
I think Amarr scout is going to be fun for those who like to play mini Logi's. You could even play a rep scout with these guys. |

The Amarr Scout suit does have potential it just needs adjusting. The main issue is that all other scout suits marginalize it already as pointed out by the OP. The Minmatar scout for example may not have the most stamina or stamina regen, but the difference in stamina regen between the Minja and Ainja is marginal at best and the Minja can fully replenish its stamina pool before the Ainja can if both suits had nothing but complex cardiac regulators. I don't mind the speed that the Minmatar has over the Amarr as that is not something the Amarr is suppose to be best known for. The Amarr is suppose to be best known for its stamina.
The second issue is that all other scout suits besides the Ainja have built-in bonuses equal to that of advanced or complex module of their respective specialty. The Ainja in this case doesn't. It's built-in bonus only equals that of a militia cardiac regulator at best. If this issue is to be addressed, then the Ainja probably won't be so marginalized.
The third and final issue here is that it's bonus makes it the ONLY scout suit that isn't EWAR worthy. The Cal/Gal/Min scouts have EWAR-related skills but not the Amarr scout. I would recommend giving it one additional bonus from one of the following EWAR related bonuses to make it on par with the rest of the scout line up.
1. Bonus to vehicle stasis webifier equipment range and strength (if webifiers ever get implemented). This can make the Ainja the go-to suit for slowing down those pesky tanks and LAVs.
2. Bonus to TACNET Jamming range and strength against infantry (if jammers ever get implemented). This can make the Cal and Amarr scouts a perfect pair. Of course, all suits will have to be given sensor boosters and ECCM modules to counter like in Eve Online.
3. Bonus to Energy Neutralizer range and strength against vehicles (if energy neuts and vehicle capacitors ever get implemented). This can help deal with hardened tanks.
EDIT: I'll probably put together a better critique about the Amarr Scout the more I use it in 1.8 now that I made my choice with it.

It's not that I can't scout. Scouting is easy.
It's the play style is so lack lustre and IMO basically tactically worthless as the scout cannot hold its own in a real brawl.... if it can't do that its not my cup of tea....and was a huge waste of SP and enthusiasm.

It can't see you either it's got just as blind sensors. The GalScout bonus just brings everyone down to their level. But it's still a strength they have. I don't know if that's their strength or everybody else's weakness. Undoubtedly it's the best counter-intelligence suit on the field but really it feeds off of reliance on scanners.
Two ways to fights scanners: Scan or sub-scan. Either go below detection or scan right back. Gal Scout is not built for scanning back but the first option. Scanning is not a necessity in the game but an advantage and people can do without advantage. The Gal Scout "advantage" to strip others of a seeing advantage really just puts everyone on equal terms.
Over other scouts, if you aren't getting near passive scans, Caldari Scouts, or active scanners, you don't have an applicable advantage. To use your advantage, you have to be near people who have a scanning advantage.
People with a scanning advantage are, in my experience, more liable to become reliant on it. I feed off the reliance of scanners, it's like a piggy-back advantage. |

What can I say. I preferred keeping only the original four suits and just define them by roles. The Amarr would always use the heavy suit. It sould be their one type suit. An Amarr scout therefore would be a heavy suit with scan and extra defense for staying in enemy territory and taking hits
In other words, it would do what the scout is supposed to do rather than become this notion of being a ninja. A scout doesn't need to be invisible, just able to infiltrate forward battle zones and report or hack.
The Commando suit would be a perfect Amarr scout. Forceful, versatile with weapons and long lasting rather than stealthy.

Say that when i run doable your speed, speed hacking all objectives and wile your counter hacking, insta kill ya with a swipe from my NOVA Knifes
Double speed? Yea, good luck getting by squads with cal scouts or scanners. You pop on that mini map.
I think I've been knifed twice since cloaks are out, and killed 30 times by shotguns. I can't see how NK are better vs medium or light suits, or even better than RE's.
Yea, another thing.. You really need to use a Proto suit?! Funny, it cause your adv min scout suit is a piece of garbage. Which is exactly my point, it's not a viable option. As a NK i get you die a lot which means constant Proto suits will drain your ISK.
You will hack what? I don't see how hacking bonus applies to 1/4 of the game modes, nor is speed hacking going to kill anyone. Its a niche skill on top of a niche weapon on top of a sub par scout suit. And the fact you have to run a Proto suit is embarrassing.
Your NK might as well hide against any top tier squad, thst way you don't lose it.
If they had a few more PG at advanced and maybe their racial NK out they woukd be more viable... But good luck when Min NK are released and you're forced to skill into those as well.
Oh more thing, i think i can see your crutch when you run.,l mean your cloak. |

Maken Tosch wrote:The Amarr Scout suit does have potential it just needs adjusting.
EDIT: I'll probably put together a better critique about the Amarr Scout the more I use it in 1.8 now that I made my choice with it. i'd be up giving the amarr scout a scan radius bonus since most of their weapons are range weapons

The originally proposed 5%/level to cloak recharge and 0.1 m/s speed buff (still the slowest scout, but faster than all assault suits--as it should be). That would be an interesting and unique bonus, that's not OP. You simply have shorter downtime on the cloak (which the Amarr scout is more dependent on than other racial scouts) but have no increase to the cloak's duration.

The amarr scout was probably thought out as an uplink w*ore. It can stack kincats and run to the city without ever stopping. I would guess that because the uplink is the equipment of their race. But I will admit that it has the least important role in pubs and doesnt really belong there...
It's just alarming that CCP didn't foresee this.
I could list the ways how we Amarr are better than you, but your lesser mind wouldn't comprehend it.
