Race really doesn't matter, pick one you like the looks of. After a few days you'll probably be cross training other racial ships etc. |

Caldari are mainly mission runners and ewar in eve.
Gallente and amarr are the brawlers.
Minmatar are decent at everything, best at nothing |

Caldari are very strong mission runners (missiles are excellent for PvE), so that's an obvious choice. Mission running can be solid income once you hit L3's and L4's. Gallente are also solid mission runners with drones (mostly L4 missions using a domi and sentries). Amarr and Minmatar are both fun, but are more skill-intensive to really get the most out of their hulls. Amarr don't have a T1 mission runner battleship that's very effective for PvE until you have a lot of skills at 5.
Of course there are a lot more things to do than mission running, but it is a pretty common way for new players to earn ISK, and get introduced to combat via PvE.
Best PvE idea ever!

Technically you could do it day one, as long as you bought ob ammo that fits in your noobship guns. You'd be a terrible OB pilot, but you'd get paid for doing it. To do real bombardments you'll need a destroyer, which means training a racial frigate to 3 (gallente, amarr or caldari, projectile bombardments aren't all that great most of the time). That'll take a couple days. You'll also want to train up for warp core stabilizers, under the propulsion upgrades section of the market. Put those on an OB ship you aren't going to fight other ships in...lets you avoid getting tackled and run away. |

Oh, and Amarr faction warfare bombardments pay out really well right now. |

You should start with the race that you can make look the coolest for your liking on the portrait screen.
Then pick the ship that you think is the most badass and train for it.

Note this has nothing to so with the race of the character, only what ship you pick out.

Tackled? As in trapped?
Anyways, thanks for the feedback. Also, where could I drop OB without getting blown up? FW? Pubs?

O.P. is smart for checking. I did the same thing and never regretted going Acura - Inventors - School of Knowledge. Then again I was fixated on SP gain and invention/building industry.

For EvE orbitals, it is still 2500 WP to get right?

You are gonna want to get comfortable with the game, make some money, then have a nice long talk with someone in the know about the ramifications of joining Faction Warfare, which you will need to do to drop OBs. Once you get in game and start really opening up paths in your skill tree, you will forget about OBs for a little bit.
On a particularly depressing side note, I miss Eve :...( Got into it in November I think it was, played for 3 months and my laptop broke. And Eve's is a skill tree done right. So much better than the slop we are currently working with.
Switzerland is small and neutral. We're more like Germany. Ambitious and misunderstood.

I did an eve trial back when your starting race matters, and you trained skills that let you train skills faster. I wanted to like it back then, but I just couldn't :p
Eve orbitals are now earned by the Eve guy sitting over the district, connected to it, for 3 minutes. While you're doing that assume that everyone in system knows you're there and be ready to run. Tackled means someone locked onto you and turned on a warp disruptor or scrambler...disabling your warp engines so you can't get away. Warp core stabilizers counteract this, you need one to protect against a single disruptor and two for a scrambler.
When it comes to doing orbitals I find the most helpful thing is to go into the starmap and under the sovereignty folder, go to faction warfare and select militia ships killed in the last hour. The big orange and red blotches are where the big battles and gate camps are. Then when I get a district where a battle is starting I do a search in the star map panel, right click on it and "set destination". If the route goes through a system that is creating a red / orange blotch, I normally ignore that battle and look for another one. If you have to go more than 8 or 9 jumps to get there, the battle will be well under way before you show up. |
