I have ISK, maybe not top 1% amounts but I could pretty much run whatever I wanted for a couple of months. I still choose to run standard in pubs 90% of the time because I take greater satisfaction in making my enemy lose out on money than staying alive. I mean what is the KDR to an immortal merc? It's not a stat for everyone, we all judge success in a game like this differently, but it does give something to new players who watch their stats tank at the start because they can't match up. Those that actually value KD as the most important stat will have that, but some of us don't need that excuse to stomp other players just because we can afford too. A logi or scout can contribute immensely without ever being able to show off their contribution
So I propose 2 new stats added in match and to leaderboard. WP/death Ratio: Give the Logis and Hacker scouts something to show that going negative is not necessarily the sign of a bad player, just one with a different focus. It also help those who get so many assists have a stat that can be followed. It can be done already as the WP and death stats are available for everyone, but a board or column on the end game screen would make it easier for everyone to see.
ISK Lost/ ISK Destroyed: This one may be better to implement when the game accurately calculates the damage contribution of each player. It's a stat that highlights those who choose not to use higher tier gear to take out those in lower tier gear. Damage can be percentage based to account for all who contribute damage, if that's not possible it still has value. ISK lost would also only count towards a total clone death, so incentivizes making sure the enemy is dead, and being revived would help this stat. It would also help our less fiscally minded mercs keep track of their efficiency.
In the end these stats like KDR are just numbers, they have no bearing on ISK payout or SP gain. KDR is a good reference but in no way an accurate measurement of player skill or usefulness. With the addition of these other stats it gives something for everyone to strive for. It does no harm adding more stats, the stats only have as much worth as you give them.

To add to that, I'd like to have an assist tracker on my character sheet. some weapons are great assist weapons but bad at getting that "Killing Blow" and it would just be a nice stat to have.

I think somewhere they proposed that if the mechanics were in place the WP rewards for kills would be proportional to the damage done, so those who did the most damage would get the most WP even if they didn't get "the kill".

The WP system is and has been pretty broken. They went over the top with the AV damage WP and have made it a farm mechanic like logi spam. Both of which need to be toned down point wise/occurrence wise. |
