 Dear Caldari assassins,

 First, please don't kill me.

Second, how are you guys fitting your caldari scouts. I seem to run into max PG issues. I'm fitting an ADV frame with something like this:

 Shield extenders in highs
 BPO shotgun
 Flux grenade
sidearm - SMG (i never really use it)

 Cloak
 Compact nanohive

In lows I'm unsure, I've tried stamina booster and a dampener but if the dampener is a higher level, I max out my PG... or maybe I should be fitting an armour module and a kin cat? I'm really not sure..

Any advice or example fits are welcome. All my skills are maxed for anything that can help fitting CPU/PG wise.

Hey! I'm a 1337-pro assassin (sort of*), and I happen to run Caldari Scout.

Before I begin... I definitely will kill you. Muahaha...

Ok, so. My fit at proto-level is as follows:

 WEAPONS
 Kaalakiota Magsec SMG
'Fleshriver' Ishukone Nova Knives (that I got from the event. Otherwise I use the ZN-28s)
 EQUIPMENT
 Cloak
Compact Nanohive (I have CPU/PG room for a full rep hive, but I don't have the skills for one)
 GRENADE
 AV Grenade
 HIGHS
 Complex Shield Extender (x2)
Enhanced Precision Enhancer (x2) (Don't have the skills for Complex Precision, but both of the other scanning skills are at 5)
 LOWS
 Complex Profile Dampener (x2)

I have a tiny bit of CPU/PG left. Only enough to upgrade my Nanohive to a K-2. I plan on using the leftovers for a better cloak (when I get them).

For the ADV Scout, it's basically the same thing, but downgraded to fit only ADV things. Always have less Precision Enhancers than Shield Extenders. That's your life blood. Imagine that in red, dripping text.

And tips? I have tips coming out of my ears.
 1) Join the Learning Coalition. We have plenty of people that like to squad, hang out, and some of us like to teach! I'm an instructor/founder there, so I can teach if no one else can (Although I'm not on too much as of late). Other great guys are Jillic, Ironyimation, Regnier Feros, and anyone with 'Gaden' in their name. I'd look for them as well, because they (along with myself #humble) are pretty much the stars of the Learning Coalition, and have been there for a long time.

 2) Don't focus too much on your cloak. It's useful, definitely, but most people at this point are looking out for a big blue outline. Sometimes the cloak makes you a huge target. BUT it dampens your profile by 25%. So you can use it in the following instances (not only these, however, there are plenty. Just for the sake of a shorter post, I'm only listing these).

-Infiltrating a building. The cloak makes it so you'll get relatively unnoticed, because scanners, passive scans, etc. won't be able to pick you up.

-Hacking installations and objectives! While standing still, you're completely invisible (save a small shimmer). This means that if you crouch down next to a CRU, you can hack it before any enemies spot you.

-Quick escape. I'll provide an example. My very first battle with the Cloak, I was being shot at. I turn a corner, activate my cloak, guy comes around corner and has no idea where I am. And then my friend puts a shotgun round into his face. :D

Other than that, I'm really too tired to type any more. Have fun, join the Learning Coalition, don't get killed, etc. etc.

*Warning: I've been very inactive lately and I'm sort of bad. These tactics should be just fine if you'e actually good at the game, but I'm rusty, so these might be sucky tactics. I have no idea. Try it out. <3

First off, thanks for replying. I just put 3 complex extenders. Last night I was running kin cats which seemed better than a stamina module and put a profile dampener in the last slot. I don't use any precision enhancement modules because I seem to see everyone pretty well... apart from cloaked scouts but I use my eyes a lot.

I realised I should really get a magsec SMG too, there really is no long range sidearm like it... and I really do like the shotgun. Anyway I'm interested in hearing about your fit?

I'm no king of Assassin Calja's, but this fit has served me well so far in terms of my playstyle of "Sneak, Hack, Assassinate, and cause general mayehm. "

And it has easily kept me ISK positive. (My most important metric.)

I'll start by saying I've long been an EWAR guy, and having run Gallente Scout for ages I never had bothered to get my shield extenders up to 5, (Though they're on the top of the list for what to skill into now.) so that's why you'll not see them worked into my fit.

Anyway, here is my main fit.

According to the tables I have been working with in conjunction with protofits (and my own wish to make my suits as cheap and functional as possible) this Calscout scans down a standard scout with a PRO Damp(or cloak) and Ganja's who don't put on a PRO dampener. I decided that for the ISK and the efficacy of using Complex precision just wasn't worth my time and I'd just have to be as alert as I was in my days as a Gallente Scout.

I also only use an ADV Range Amp simply because it is a difference of only four more meters at PRO- and therefore not worth the extra cost to my fit. After that I filled my slots like everyone else- the best shield extenders I've got and an ADV Shield Reg to improve my hit and run a little bit, and it has saved me a number of times already.

For the sake of managing cost both in ISK and fitting, I only ever run Sidearms. Due to that, I picked up the Bolt Pistol (due to its high damage per shot, high efficacy on armor, and nice range... Plus I'm partial to pistols.) and my trusty ZN-28's for cleanup and assassinations.

Flux grenades because, well, there's absolutely nothing better for cleaning equipment hives and dealing with shield tanked players.

Then, of course, there's the obligatory cloak and RE's. (Or whatever other BSC equip you want to put in. I have a series of this fit with different equipment.)

I understand loving speed and stamina, but speed mods haven't work for me so far on the Cal Scout due to our highly limited lows, so instead I choose to supplement the strengths of the suit as much as possible while keeping things fairly cheap. For that reason, I'd recommend doing your own tests with precision to see if its worth your time or not.

 Finally, as a tip:
Never EVER trust the cloak. It's useful sometimes, but I've seen far too many players trust it to protect them and frankly, it won't. The Cloak is best thought of as an active dampener which can be useful to help you run across open areas without immediately being spotted. (Or for just a tiny bit of extra security when hacking.) You can use it to aid in confusing the enemy, but in general, do not ever trust it to be reliable enough to keep you alive as you enter or escape a fight.

Besides that, wear stereo headphones. If you haven't tried this you might just be amazed how much it can help your battlefield awareness (when out of cloak, since cloak dulls all sound.)

 Give 'em hell.

Replace the shield reg for a complex dampener. IMO, the dampening is more valuable than the split second you save with the reg.

In my experience thus far the Complex Damp's bonus isn't enough for the extra ISK it costs over the Reg(Only ~1.5k, but still), and that split second of quicker regen has saved my fit a number of times so far.

That said, I do also have a fit with a Complex Damp on there, it's just that even with it and cloak the Calscout isn't going to slip beneath the scans of its Kin sporting two Complex Precision. (Which is the norm for EWAR CalScouts from what I've seen.)

Thus I don't run it on my general purpose fit.

Thanks all. I also realised my problems with CPU/PG were actually shared with everyone - since they hotfixed it, I can fit almost what I had in mind.

only time i have pg issues is when i messed around with all complex shield extenders and then tried to fit heavy armor. most modules you will fit have little to no pg needs (range, precision, stamina) it dont have the pg or lows to really hide from scanners, or use kincats. use range to see them coming and plan your attack. i also recommend always having a complex precision mod on at all times, as it allows you to catch scouts with a damp, a cloak, or a gal scout, along with just about any non scout cloaks out there, regardless of profile damps.
