With cloaked scouts and some logis running about I think there should be a new type of nade that decloaks enemies and jams the tacnet. Some might think the flux should do this, but this allows the caldari to have their own signature grenade with a unique function.
The grenade type should be a contact grenade so you can hit a cloaked enemy which will disable his cloak and remove certain tacnet information like the hp of the enemy and his red dot. Your teammates blue and green dots will also be removed which could lead to some interesting moments where friendly fire is on. The other hud elements could also become distorted.
This seems to make sense for the caldari to have since they're fighting the gallente with their larger passive scan radius and dampening.

Generally, the Caldari seem to specialize in Anti-Vehicle... as evidenced by their Forge gun, Swarm Launcher, and Anti-Vehicle Grenades.
In truth, Amarr should be getting the next gen Grenades... though jamming isn't up their E-War alley traditionally.

Interesting idea. Thanks to the way the game works you will have to keep the friendly carrots in direct view so you can tell who is who, but remove enemy carrots and create an area of static on the minimap with no icons (besides probably base points). Whether this should be a grenade or an equipment item is up for debate though.
On a related note, I would like to see a deployable active scanner that does the reverse. Lighting up enemies for a squad with an occasional pulse, like the active scanner.
There is also a mechanic already in the game about active scanners and cloaks that could work with this. If you scan a cloaked enemy he will glow for a bit. One of these items should do that...Personally i am leaning more towards the scanner since it plays along with the idea, but giving the job to the sensor disruptor would create more interesting gameplay. |
