With the release of the new patch the introduction of the cloak field has come upon us, and I for one am super happy. However, the cloak is an advanced tactical equipment wich requires practice and precision to be used to its fullest extent. After having time to use it and find its sweet spot, im feeeling charitable and am willing to share my secrets.
For anyone who's beaten games like mgs or crysis on thier hardest difficulties, you should feel right at home with the cloack field. First, let's go over the limitations of the cloak so you can know how far to push it. The cloak has a limit on the time it can be used and there is a cooldown and recharge as well. It also has movement penalties, as you will be slightly visible when moving, but fully cloaked when standing still. Over the next few weeks you will see many scouts who dont quite get this, and they will be cannon fodder. You need to resist the urge and think each move before you rush in. Move from cover to cover, giving time to recharge your cloak when you can.
The best loadout would be a scout suit for the buff, as well as the speed so you dont get caught. Invest in profile dampening, you usually wont even need the module but a basic is all that is necessary. For advanced tactics, you'll want remote explosives. The best plan is to form a two man team with cloaking, one person can bring an uplink or proto scanner instead of re. Your team should move for the enemy home point. Depending on the size of the map, you may want to use a dropship to get closer, but never land in sight of the enemy. If the home point is within running distance, travel around the dge of the map where there are usually no players as to reduce the chance of being sighted. If you sneak properly, you should make it to their home point at around the same time they take their second objective. This means the home point should be empty, but make sure to scout it out from a concealed position before pushing foward.
Take your team and capture the objective, having one person cover the other hacking, then discretely place a remote explosive. When this is done, move back to your concealed position. At this point having two people working together will become critical. While one person keeps an eye on the objective, the other should be recharging their shields where they cant be seen. Take turns doing this so you can keep constant vision on the objective. The enemy will eventually try to take it back, and this is where you will have the advantage. Move in to engage if there are four or less medium to light dropsuits, let them take it if you dont think you can win. Activate your remote explosive when they try to hack. Your teamate should sneak up to get a shot, wait for the detonation, then decloak and engage. Once you detonate the re make sure you start to engage as well, preferably from a different position to create confusion. You should have around three second where the enemy will be delayed while trying to reassess after the shock, enough time to kill them all.
Once you eliminate the enemy, either rinse and repeat or move to another objective with low security. If there were to many and you couldnt engage, simply wait for them to leave and rehack. Either they will bring back to many to handle, meaning you successfully pulled them from another objective, or in most cases only a few will return to rehack. You can then eliminate the softer target. With proper practice, you should never lose a dropsuit, and you will be able to hold the enemy home point with only two people. It can get boring if you arent patient and dont like to wait, but that is what you ask for when you pick stealth over run and gunning. Its worth it though when a heavy walks by you without batting an eye, because then you get to drop an re at the back of his feet and run away. I havent tried it yet, but nova knives seem to look like alot of fun as well.
Let me know if you like my tips or you have any more suggestions, enjoy!
