I've been debating this since the scout stats were released months ago. I used to be able to make a string case for both sides but unless the game changes a bit in the next few weeks I can't see a good reason to go caldari.
Caldari has the percision which would be nice if there was anything but heavies and gallante scouts on the field. Really the only use for caldari percision is to hunt other scouts. However any snart gallante scout will have tiers if stealth builds to choose from and will quickly notice the caldari scout that seems to be tracking him and move to a lower profile build, sacrifice some speed or tank to do so.
But basically I can't see the caldari tracking gallante at all in higher skilled play. Maybe a couple of kills but soon the gallante will go under the caldari. So with that being inevitable, what does the percision offer? Tracking other caldari, min and amarr scouts? But they are rare.
I'd love to counter the ****** scout craze going on right now but with it being soneasy for gallante to ensure complete radarlessness it seems like the smarter choice is to just go gallante. |

Both get the range.
And yeah forcing them to drop armor or speed is nice, but is it worth needing to shed a good amount of health myself? The gallante who sneaks under the caldari scan has a big hp adv over said caldari |

I have max for all ewar as I ran gallante scout in 1.7. My main concern is the only thing a caldari can scan that a gallante can't is other scouts, gallante in particular. The main concern is all it takes is one damp and a cloak and the gallante is unscannable. And that leaves a lot of tank for them. Meanwhile if caldari has two percision and some range, you have almost no tank (especilly at adv which I play) especilly if I also want my own damp.
Gallante has the flexibility to go dual ewar and scan most and hide from all with even greater range And some decent tank. Or go full damp with plenty of tank, or just speed or just tank. The battle will dictate which build you use.menwhile I feel that caldari had to sacrifice almost all tank and speed to get a decent scan going which can still be countered easily
I WANT to go caldari but once the wannabe scouts move on, I don see cldari picking up many scans the gallante will miss...ill run some protofit builds to see how squishy the ewar caldari is compared to the same gallante
Tht 100 range is appealing too... |

I've made my choice. Caldari level 5, gallante level 3. Adv gallante with double damp or damp/cloak(good luck fitting cloak at level 3) will get under double percision caldari and only be caught by pro focused scans.
I'm not sure if 1 damp beats 1 percision or 0 beats 0 those depend on rounding.
But this way I can still use my dragonfly and adv gallante and guarantee scan safety (practically) if need be but only investing like 700k in that. And can rock full on caldari for dat scan. |
