When talking about CCP, terms like 'sandbox', 'emergent gameplay', 'player created content', and 'consequences' are thrown around. In general, these are marketing buzzwords. Pay them no mind. A player scamming another in EVE isn't 'creating content', they're simply doing what the game (and the game's moderator's) allow them to do. That's neither here nor there, however. These things are typically excepted as 'the metagame.'
Recently, EVE's metagame played host to a particularly brutal scam set up by a fairly well known scammer named Erotica 1. Some have even gone so far as to call it torture (I would clarify psychological torture.)
Here is a link to a blog by a fairly well known player named Jester, who is also sitting his first term on EVE's CSM (a more successful, respected, and generally productive version of DUST's CPM.) note: On Jester's bit about setting up this particular scam, he says "You create a set of rules, and then you exploit the fact that most humans have a difficult time following a specific rule set." If I could rewrite that, it would say "You create a set of rules, and then you exploit the fact that absolutely nothing in EVE binds either party to those rules."
Here is a direct link to the sound file released by Erotica 1 or some other first hand party. Jester's blog also has a link to the article. I strongly recommend reading the article and listening to the full sound file.
Here is the EVE Online forum thread where you can peruse the opinions of EVE pilots.
Take some time to read up on this. After that, ask yourself if that's the 'metagaming' experience you want DUST to foster. Anyone who is familiar with my posting knows that I believe DUST should be as much like EVE as possible in an FPS environment. This aspect, however, is not one that should be similar. I have stronger opinions on this matter, but I don't feel text is the best means to convey them. I had posted in a "One-Line Bad Idea" thread by a CCP Dev on the EVE Online forums, though, that Fanfest should have a boxing ring.

Like the old eve butterfly effect trailer.
Someone didn't read the OP.
Look folks. Don't **** post. I can't hold your hand on this one. Read the OP, read / listen to what I've linked (you don't have to read all of the EVE Online thread, it's over 70 pages), and if you have an opinion on the topic at hand, share it.
EDIT: Before I could post this a second person managed to illustrate how eager he is to speak and not listen, or post and not read, as it may be.

The thread on the EVE Online forum has now more than doubled in size to over 160 pages in the less than 24hrs since I posted this to the DUST forums.

The EVE Online thread has reached 200 pages. Does the DUST community have any opinion on how it wants the quality of its future player base?

Yeah, that sort of thing.
Please actually read. It can at times be difficult, but I have faith in your abilities.
Maybe this is the future of our player base. A bunch of opinionated jack holes that only talk and never listen.
