Why are some blues little skinny triangles and some are circles and triangles? Does that mean that they are scouts but I usually see them they are scouts? |

It looks like they're scouts and heavies. But it doesn't seem consistent all the time from what my corp mates have said.

I don't think it is because of height because I often find people above me that look normal. |

I don't know either and I have seen uncloaked mercs with the different chevron. I thought at first it was telling me that the merc was either above or below me but I don't think that is correct either. I would love to know what it means.

It would be quite helpful knowing what it means especially as a Caldari scout. I depend on my radar and I wanna make sure I can extract the most information from it as I can. |

Doesn't appear to be height
Also its a little strange as it looks like its the open part of the wide part of the arrow that indicates where the person is facing.

That is the case I think because if you watch from the overview map you can see them scan with a AS and it seems to come out of the open end.

I', pretty sure it doesn't because I was running solo and a bunch of blues were sometimes skinny triangles and sometimes reds. |

Could it be something to do with a scan maybe??? it looks like it could be a 90 degree snapshot marker.. mabye??!?

That may be it, I will try to check on that next time I am in game. I have been in battles solo and the chevron is the same color as me but when in a squad they are blue, not green. I think you are correct, good job.

Still want to know what this is.
Pretty sure the icon respresnts the play's FOV, but I don't know what kinds of players change into that symbol.

It isn't squadless mercs, it isn't squad leaders I am not sure what they are but I do want to know. I haven't seen the pattern but I am too busy doing #logilove with fat kids to take the time to study them.

I think it's a bug to do with the cloaks, probably linked to how their information is supposed to be displayed while cloaked, but botched.
Of course it could just be a coincidence, but the mercs i saw with it were using them (3 in a group), whereas no one else that match had one equipped to my knowledge and the chevron stayed whether they had their fairy lights on or not.
In subsequent matches i neither saw the chevrons nor any cloak users.
Shouting doesn't make your opinion seem more valid, it just makes you seem more annoying.

So far I can say 100% certainty that it's not:
- due to height differences.
If you disagree join a game find a blue chevron stand right next to them. Also take notice that the orientation of the chevron changes with the direction they are facing the 'v' points toward their back or away from where they are looking.
- designated squad leader
Again join a game and find the chevrons, not all of them have the SQ Leaders double chevron.
possibilities:
- a bug
- designates person is in a squad other from your own
- equipped with a cloak/dampened unit.

Whatever it is, it's counterintuitive. You expect the chevron to be pointing towards the direction the player is heading but it's the opposite.

If you see that symbol in the minimap it means you're near a cloaked merc. After running a scout and seeing that symbol all over the map for cloaked scouts an heavies it can only mean that one thing. But it is new though I wish CCP gave a full readout of these things in patch notes why the tight lips on minor changes?
