Before I continue, I have a confession to make.
I... I used the SP refund on the Amarr Scout Dropsuit.
I was having a long conversation with OZAROW last night discussing the various setups between the Minmatar Scout and the Amarr Scout. As I was checking out the numbers myself via www.protofits.com I was starting to see the point that many scout users were trying to point out about the Minmatar Scout suit. The minja is just relatively gimped still primarily because of the PG. The slot layout, bonuses, and CPU buff is extremely helpful for the Minja suit, but that PG is what makes the Minja practically the runt of the scout pedigree. This was starting to get really discouraging.
Then the focus of the topic switched to the Amarr Scout. And I was relatively impressed with what the Amarr scout despite all the jokes that were made about this suit. Despite the fact that the Amarr scout is the bastard child of the entire scout lineup for not having any ewar bonus compared to the rest, it shows a lot of potential already.
Here is the fit that I currently have with the Amarr Ak.0
Quote:Scout A/1-Series8,040 Basic Precision Enhancer 825 Enhanced Shield Extender2,610 Enhanced Cardiac Regulator1,935 Enhanced Kinetic Catalyzer1,815 Enhanced Kinetic Catalyzer1,815 ZN-28 Nova Knives2,955 Submachine Gun675 ARN-18 Cloak Field3,420 Flux Active Scanner975 ISK Estimated Cost:~ 25,065
Here are the stats:
Quote:CPU 221.45 / 312.375 gF PG 63.5 / 64.3125 kW Shield 75 [111.3] HP Armor 212.5 HP No icon eHP 287.5 [323.8] HP Shield Recharge Rate 30 HP/s Shield Recharge Delay 4 s Shield Dep. Rec. The numbers you see in brackets [ ] are stats represented with bonuses applied.
I don't have enough skill points to max out the Cardiac Regulators nor the Shield Extenders but so far this fit is proving to be highly effective. This is just my general hunter fit that I use in the cities. I can sprint for about 50 seconds nonstop. If I take a rest for even one second, I'll instantly recover enough stamina to sprint for another 10 seconds. The shield extender has actually helped me pretty well in surviving close encounters which I will talk about in a moment. I'm not as profile dampened compared to the Gallente and Caldari scout, but it's not a problem for me as I keep getting "Scan Prevented" messages. Of course, the Caldari Scout is still the cat to my mouse.
Here is the theoretical proto fit assuming you have all skills maxed out.
Quote:Scout ak.057,690 Complex Shield Extender4,275 Complex Precision Enhancer5,925 Complex Cardiac Regulator3,150 Complex Kinetic Catalyzer2,955 Complex Kinetic Catalyzer2,955 Complex Kinetic Catalyzer2,955 Ishukone Nova Knives12,975 Submachine Gun675 Locus Grenade450 ARN-18 Cloak Field3,420 Compact Nanohive900 ISK Estimated Cost:~ 98,325
And here are the stats.
Quote:CPU 299.45 / 446.25 gF PG 90.5 / 91.875 kW Shield 75 [147.6] HP Armor 212.5 HP No icon eHP 287.5 [360.1] HP Shield Recharge Rate 30 HP/s Shield Recharge Delay 4 s Shield Dep. Rec. Notice the sprint speed being only 0.05 seconds slower than the 1.7 Minmatar Scout. Of course the Minmatar scout can do 11.20m/s now in 1.8 but don't forget that the Minja is gimped primarily because of its PG. The Amarr scout is still able to sprint at least 2 football fields in 20 seconds which is fast enough for me to catch you pesky redline snipers even in that southern mountain in Manus Peak. With a lot of stamina to back it up, it's also becoming much easier to jump-charge enemies with the knives now as I don't have to worry about my stamina as much.
As for the TTK, I have to say that I am impressed with it. I have been able to confront several assaults already even with my advanced hunter fit and take them out before they take me out. Of course, the more skilled assaults take me out first which is no problem for me.
Also, the matches seem to be... fair... more often now. Which is a surprise for me. I have played through 10 matches already and almost all of them have been relatively fun and fair matches despite the losses I suffered.
Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to don this flame-proof suit in preparation of the Minmatar folks who might want to flame me for switching over to a suit that represents their slave owners.
EDIT: One more thing, even with no stamina mods, I can sprint for 35 seconds which is still a long sprint even for an advanced scout.

Be careful with that statement. CCP Logibro pointed out that despite not confirming how they'll fix it, it's still very likely they'll let you keep the skill but charge you the difference of the SP. So whatever leftover SP you have after maxing it out, keep it just in case. At least hold it for the next couple of weeks.

Here's the thing though. My main was only specced into Minmatar Scout in 1.7. It's my alt that's currently still specced into Gallente Scout.

You know i've always had much admiration and respect for you.
And i understand your reasoning completely. I called that the Amarr scout would invoke terror on the battlefield while much of the goldenscum(barring a few visionaries) was whinging about the suit's handicaps, and other fotm tryhards mocked me. So on a purely logical level i have to admire your decision and look forward to not encountering you on the battlefield.
But listen - we've been playing this game for years now, and if CCP can avoid flushing the whole thing down the toilet for want of good decision-making, we will be living here in New Eden a good long time. Decades perhaps.
So i just want you to know that the day you 'went Ammar' and drank their dirty soup won't be forgotten. Once you were a noble hunter, slipping out of shadows and dispensing silent justice. Now you are become a creature of gold-plated darkness who has consented to be touched and tainted by powerful but immoral technologies dripping with the blood of innocents.
Enjoy the edge it gives you in combat, but know that every kill comes at the price of a deepening stain on your once-noble warrior's soul.
I will be telling the story of Maken Tosch the principled warrior and his eventual corruption years from now - as a tale of warning to young mercs who take lightly decisions made in a single-shard virtual universe that may well outlive us all.
Fare thee well, former brother. You are dead to me now.
/salute to you
Reminds me of when I first started out as a mining professional in Eve Online. Then I became corrupted by the thrill of suicide ganking other miners. It felt awesome. Such is the way in New Eden. We all started with good intentions, but then we end up paving the road to hell with it. One day you will succumb as well like I did.
Cheers.

Funny. I recall many people once saying that there was nothing that a scout could do that a logi or assault couldn't do better.

I was thinking about the Gallente Scout but then I remembered that I have an alt that's already specced into that and it has a similar passive scan range as the Caldari scout. I still won't be able to see other scouts like the Caldari scout can but that doesn't matter to me.
Again, the major factor in why I chose the Amarr Scout over the Minmatar is the PG. It's just not helping especially after experimenting with it in www.protofits.com. Despite the fact that the Minmatar is great when it comes to being able to fully regenerate the fastest, what practical fitting exists that takes full advantage of the available high, low, equipment, light, sidearm, and grenade slots while still being able to fit within the PG limits? The more I look at the Minmatar Scout, the more I see that it's an either/or dropsuit. Again, that PG. If there was more PG added then I would've stuck with the Minmatar Scout, but that's not what happened.
PS: When I say practical, I mean reasonable like fitting mostly complex in a proto suit and mostly enhanced in an advanced suit. It's not reasonable if I have to fit mostly enhanced stuff on a proto suit. That's like fitting tech 1 modules on a marauder ship in Eve Online.

@Magnus Amadeuss
I understand what you're trying to say, but the fact of the matter here is that I made my choice and I am unable to immediately dump anymore SP into other suits mainly because I only have 16 million SP total with only about 2.5 million invested in the dropsuit command tree. Despite my closed-beta veteran status, I rarely invested any money in boosters and therefore I purposefully limited myself in terms of SP. But I don't see that as a bad thing mainly because it taught me how to be careful with my choices. Therefore I would not have want it any other way.
Now that I am stuck with this Amarrian suit along with a pair of knives an M512 SMG, I now have to make the most out of this suit. Once again, I purposefully limited myself here by picking the one suit everyone mocks at. And if you don't recall, or if you weren't around at the time, the Minmatar Scout suit was also mocked by the majority of the community. Very few people specced into it and I was among the few who picked it. I made the most of it.
Now some people will ask themselves "But Maken, why pick a suit that you know everyone laughs at?" The answer is simple. And it's the same answer I gave when I chose the Minmatar Scout back in open beta. The challenge. Sure, the Minmatar Scout has a pretty gimped PG, but in the bigger picture it has improved vastly over the course of 1 year and 3 months. It is no longer the laughing stock of Dust. It is no longer the "Hard mode" that it use to be. There are now more Minjas out there then I hoped to see on the battlefield. That's not to say that's a bad thing and I am proud of the Minmatar scout suit of where it is now, but I have to move on.
Magnus, if you're right about the Minmatar Scout and the Amarr Scout, then you have only proven to me that I made the right choice with the Amarr Scout.
PS: I never invested any SP in light weapons other than the AV Swarm Launcher (which sucks now in 1.8).
