I can't for the life of me figure out how to use this bloody thing.
Either it does pathetic damage, which I doubt considering it's 135 at the minimum, or hit detection is broken as ****.
I will go with the latter.
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

In my oppinion I use it as a finisher, when i was using it i could never kill with it, but now if i do use it i use it as a finisher, but magsec is better tho. the rof on the bolt is just... kinda like a sniper but with less damage |

Cautiously skills to lol 3 and it's very situational the mag sec is nice and I'd give the bolt pistol a 6 out of 10 for killing power compared to say 7 out of 10 for the mag sec.

Not the Ion Pistol, the bolt pistol.

If it's a basic frame or a militia frame, I use the bolt pistol. It usually 3 shots them.

I have had some moments of chappy hit detection but when you get those consecutive Shotts on target it's a relentless wepon.

It's quite well in terms of "sniping" foes, but it requires you to really place your shots properly.
It's kind-of what I hoped the Rail Rifle would be.

I personally haven't tried the MagSec, but I like the Bolt a lot. Yes, its RoF isn't very high, and its kick is horrid until operation level 5, but once you're up there, the advanced pistol can just punch holes in players with some well placed shots.
It does have a slight learning curve to using it though, since the closest weapon to how it operates is the Assault Forge Gun. Due to that, firing it at first can feel a bit. . . foreign. (To a long-time scout at least.)
Frankly, I was sold on the thing after using the basic to keep a Gallente Sentinel at distance from my frail Passive Scanning Calja- I weaved just outside his HMG's optimal range and I kept popping Bolt at his face until some local blueberries who had been hacking the objective came and helped me finish him off.
All that, and it handles a lot like a .357 Magnum, which is one of my favorite firearms to shoot.
