I'm still unhappy. It's the only weapon I got to prototype level. It's literally the only weapon I really liked, so now I don't really like any weapons.
If this game was fun, I wouldn't be playing it.

Lol, well it was that or lie about the Ion Pistol having a higher RoF in the dev blog. So, instead of buffing the Ion Pistol's RoF they nerfed the Scrambler Pistol.
Ion Pistol is still unusable though.

I admit that the pistol seems worse if you're used to the faster rate of fire and pull the trigger too quickly, but this much of a decrease is still pretty awful, and I dislike it, and I can't afford to spend points on anything else.
If this game was fun, I wouldn't be playing it.

I am a fool. If I had realized that the Scrambler Pistol was this much worse, I may not have gotten the Amarr Logistics Suit again. I am ruined, and I should probably kill myself to escape the shame. Why wasn't this mentioned in the update notes?

I feel like it was ruined so that it would be closer to the new side arms, which have to be weak for no reason.

This change is the only thing in the patch that I care about. I don't care about any new suits. I don't care about cloaks. I don't care about different bonuses. This one change has ruined the game for me. I spent today looking through all of the other weapons, and I could not find any that I like. Any range and ammo and clip size increases do nothing to mitigate this travesty. I was not expecting to dislike this patch. I had read blogs, and seen all the changes for dropsuits, and rifles, but I had never heard anything about changes to the fire rate of the scrambler pistols. I did not expect for this patch to make me want to quit, but It's not just a nerf, it completely changes the way that this weapon functions. I do not believe that it was overpowered. It's probably not useless now to some people, but it is keeping me from enjoying this game now.
If this game was fun, I wouldn't be playing it.

Well, its obvious that the ion pistol should have higher RoF and higher DPS than the scrambler pistol. Ion pistol only has 20m range.

it is still mean. Try assault variants. The burst feels like the old RoF but has way more bullets.

I was already using the Carthum Assault variant. The fire rate is still much too low. The burst is alright, but not good enough for me to want to use it all the time like I did previously. The bullets are all over the place, and it still isn't as fast as it should be.
If this game was fun, I wouldn't be playing it.

What pisses me off is that they knew that it was a bad idea, but they still went through with it.
How do I know that they knew, you ask? Because they hid it from us. The tucked it away in the SDE, and didn't speak a word of it. They never provided a reason for the nerf either. They his it from us, hoping we would never notice, trying to cut back or delay and community backlash. They knew it was a bad idea, yet they did it anyway...
...nobody ever even asked for a ScP nerf.

They have to be weak because "the community" decided a while ago that sidearms should be useless. Thus, they are. I was pretty disappointed when the flaylock was nerfed in to uselessness, but I am a little surprised that the flaylock's level of performance is the new norm.
CCP, please buff both of these weapons to make sidearms usable. |

I've never been a user of the ScP....
Yesterday, in experimenting with all the sidearms, I had no issue getting kills with it.
It's still the strongest sidearm if you aim for the head and have the skill to not miss (although the Magsec is probably the easiest to use).
Perhaps if you previously spammed the ScP trigger hoping to get a hit, I could see how this might not be a welcome change.
But it's a sidearm, and sidearms (particularly ones with 450% headshot bonus) shouldn't be primary weapons. They should be finishing weapons, and they finish just fine -- even after the ROF nerf.

IMO, of course....Lead Yes...because a weapon with 20% less damage to shields is a good sidearm... It was only ever a good sidearm because you could use it to flank with head shots and fire quickly.

I don't get how this was a stealth nerf. It was in the patch notes and all the dev posts involving weapon adjustments. I was expecting it and while I'm not blasting away like I used to, it's helped me curtail emptying entire clips into people. It's still a fun weapon right there next to laser rifles. |

It was MY primary weapon. My secondary was the laser rifle, for people outside the scrambler pistol's Range.
I can shoot people with the scrambler pistol just fine, I'm not spamming it to get a single hit in, but now it fires too slowly to kill well at all. before the decreased rate of fire, it was not more lethal than rifles. Now it is unbearable. I don't know what you mean by finishing weapon. Any fire arm can get the last hit in. That means nothing.
If this game was fun, I wouldn't be playing it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. It's still going to be useful as a shield-based weapon. Especially for heavies. In my opinion it's the best option for a Sentinel (except maybe Minmatar in which case I'd chose Ion Pistol).
Having used the AR which is the most underpowered rifle for 6 months now, I can tell you that a 40% RoF nerf isn't going to render the ScP useless. You're still going to perform well with it.
That's why I chose it for my sentinel ak.0 not only that but its range is better than the IoP.
You people who have an ego trip from proto stomping have a harsh reality waiting in life after you turn off the PS3.
