not true actually, but you would have to make your own spreadsheet and start factoring in proficiancy and actual builds to see why.
best 2 rifles of 1.8 are scrambler and rail for overall type coverages
thats the problem with doing calculations without proficiancy and with MAXED brick tanks, it doesnt show you the actual numbers you would need to make that call.
to OP:
the purpose of gathering and oganising data for the community like this is to help people make informed choices and to explore the ins and outs of the weaknesses and strengths.
your calculations do niether, and are spreading more disinformation then they are information. |

The combat rifle was found superior in its combination of dps / cpu/pg / damage profile wise to all the other rifles. I'm pretty sure that would factor into the the game as one of the best singular weapon. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=150170https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=146201Top it off with Armor > Shields when it comes to tanking. It's late for me so pardon me (2am) if I'm glancing over something obvious, the proficiency change would just be a flat 15% less ehp to either armor or shields, if it wasn't implemented, it should have been (being more open with the math would be nice as well). But max brick tanking is more of a proof of concept as we know most have at least one or two regen based modules (maybe an advance dam mod if cpu is short?) but the degree of freedom makes it difficult to predict how fits will fly, I just saw his max ehp as just a form of stability.
i made quite a bit of spreadsheets to come to that conclusion but in short.
scramblers are excedingly powerful against everything that isnt a sentinal or gallante, wich is a huge majority of the available dropsuit selection. but their weakness is also the easyest to exploit so when they hit a counter they feel it HARD.
combat rifles are powerful that is true and on paper are the best choice but situations tend to differ and it gets beat by the rail rifles ability to pull the range card.
rail rifle is king for the same reason that the old sharpshooter skill was king... range is the most powerful factor in weapons and its damage profile in my spreadsheets are JUST slightly behind the combat rifle, so for the difference of 1-2 bullets worth of HP you gain conciderable advantage in terms of range.
rail rifle is best in show, the best all round rifle in the game.
combat rifle comes in second, becuase the lwoer range means it requires more skill to obtain the same performance of the rail rifle.
the scrambler is a REALLY powerful option as its high alpha damage combined with high ROF high damage strikes makes it a contender against everything that isnt an amaar or galente heavy, but those two suits trump alot of things in 1.8 so thats why it deserves its place.
IF you can use a combat rifle well, then it edges out over the rail, but for general puposes the rail just wins out becuase the high per bullet damage figure and its higher range give it the BEST damage projection hands down, and its hard to really show just how much of an advantage that brings using math. |
