C'mon CCP stop handing out second chances.
Dropships need to explode in the air when you finish them off, killing the pilot and occupants immediately. Make it so they can't bail out. Tanks need to be held to this as well. Fire should seal you in.
You know, if your vehicle is ON FIRE you shouldn't be able to get out.
Strap these wusses into their coffins. The Captain goes down with the ship.
That is all.

i miss the fire DOT on the HAVs it was fun watching a HAV pull away thinking its survived the AV attacks just to blow up from fire dmg
CCP should really bring that back.
and it would be fun watching a DS explode in the air with everyone onboard

Considering that the pilot and occupants always have the ability to make a judgment call and bailout before catastrophic failure. This is nothing more than handholding on CCP's part.
Edit: Wait are we talking about the 5-10sec grace period DS pilots/occupants get after their ship has been shot out of the sky or people in vehicles shouldn't be able to bail once their **** catches on fire?
The latter is a dumb idea.

I bring out my vehicles knowing full well the risks. I don't bail out of my vehicles, I die with it. Real mercs stay in there vehicles accepted it. If you hop your tank I wont blast you, that's b1tchy. I'll run you over in my tank. Roadkill in a tank. ALMOST as humiliating as dying to a basic FLP when your a protostacked heavy.

This is where a well-done exit animation could add so much interesting, immersive gameplay.
If you took fire damage to your armor when exiting a burning vehicle, and if that damage scaled with how burning the vehicle was, choosing when to bail would be a highly tactical decision.
Imagine and insertion team whose dropship was taking fire inbound to a point, bail too soon to avoid fire damage and you've got a long, potentially lethal approach to the objective. Bail too late nad you hit the ground with a good chunk of your armor gone.
And as far as tanks go, this kind of exit animation would be a powerful and immersive balancing mechanic. Pretty good bang for the game-design buck, imo.

i think the OP meant that once the DS EHP reaches 0 it blows up and not fall into the ground thus giving the occupants a chance to bail out.

tanks should take fire damage again, it was a pain but added a lot to the game imo

As a tanker i hate it when other vehicle operatives jump out just before their impending doom . If you kill the vehicle you deserve the clone kill as well.

1.8 introduces WP for damaging vehicles. Not letting people out of a burning dropship is another of the worse ideas I've read on this forum.

What about not having damage control units?
Think that was a bad thing to remove.
What about not being able to turn off your modules to restart them quickly, like in =EvE=?
What about not being able to shoot?
I'm no longer in vechials and I still shiver at the bad mechanics they give pilots.

Why do dropships get a grace period to save their fancy protosuits but I in my tank have to detonate as soon as I hit 0hp?

So everyone wants already underpowered dropships to be that much weaker and susceptible to damage... this is why we don't have balance. Talking about how you can bail out of your ship is "hand holding", and others want fire damage to be reintroduced, which is essentially hand holding, as you're dependent upon the fire taking care of the enemy you couldn't kill... |

Dropship should have same mechanics like dropsuit with 'headshot'.
If you shot it: - and dropship have from 0 to eg. minus 1/4 EHP - fall down as usualy. - below -------------------------> NICE FIREWORK AT SKY .. like mini destroyed MMC or Deathstar and all dead in 'piniata' |

I'll consider it as soon as I can't be instantly killed by null cannons, mcc missiles, mccs, invisible artifacts, engine failures, gently clipping buildings, hitting other dropships, invisible RDVs, and damage stacked rail tanks that are so far in the redline that they don't render.

No, having the grace period in the event any of those underlined things you listed happened would have made sense otherwise it just ******** and doubly so that it doesn't even kick in those circumstances.
