Our dropsuit warns us when we've been scanned or prevented one (complex damps ftw), which means our dropsuit detected the scan, shouldn't it also be able to give us a general direction the scan came from like how hit the hit direction markers work when we get shot? Just a thought, opinions?

+1.
The scanners knows exactly where you are. A general direction gives the scanned player a vague idea of where the scanner is, but we have no idea on his range. I think it would be better than nothing. If I get an indicator when I am shot, I should get one when I am scanned also.

So long as the scan direction indicator is vague, not like "THAT GUY RIGHT THERE SCANNED YOU!", but an general direction.
It makes sense within the context of the intelligence vs. counter-intelligence system.

I'm wondering why we even have words rather than icons on our HUD. This from a company that still uses Microsoft windows and menus for its HUD in EVE.

It'd be nice to see some more interaction between modules and difference in capabilities between tiers. If that makes no sense I'll explain; basically, I think higher-tier modules/gear/suits should offer capabilities that lower-tier gear does not, instead of just having larger numbers.
So for instance, say we have a 'scan warning system' module and get rid of the current warning system that's built into every suit. (For the sake of discussion, ignore for a moment that this would probably be bad for everybody who uses low slots.)
A Basic Scan Warning System displays "WARNING - ACTIVE SCAN" in your HUD when a scanner is active and you're in it's detection area. Doesn't tell you whether you were detected or not, just that somebody tried. Enhanced Scan Warning System warns you if you've been scanned and tells you if your suit defeated the scan attempt. ("WARNING - YOU HAVE BEEN SCANNED", "WARNING - SCAN ATTEMPT PREVENTED") Complex Scan Warning System does that too, but also highlights the direction the scan came from.
So the higher tiers of module would still be clearly better, but not just because they have a larger number associated with them.

You can always use your ears.
Active scanning gives off a distinct sound, like four slow beats of single rail rifle shots. It's emitted by the person doing the scanning and is thereby directional. |

This is a cool idea, but I'm going to take it a step further...
What about a passive equipment module. I know we are used to equipment being active, but why not have a passive equipment? This module could be the senor suite you are talking about. STD allows you to detect scans, ADV allows you to detect scans and scan direction, PRO allows you to detect scans, scan direction, and scan distance.

+1 OP. Great idea for bringing some symmetry and good gameplay to active scanning.
Sana Rayya Points out that there is a directional audio indicator(i need my headphones on and voice turned down to hear it) for scanning. Just on the basis of accessibility there should be an equivalent visual indicator.
The only thing i want from it is that it be fairly vague in terms of pinpointing direction, and maybe could be improved with a module or equipment. Ripley's idea of passive equipment is an interesting way of expanding suit functionality.
I support SP rollover.

The guy who scans should be visible to all enemies that got scanned. The it is easy to determine the direction of the RF waves from the active scanner.
Risk vs reward mechanic at least.

If you can see the scanner every time they scan, I would argue that the reward for being an active scanner would not be worth the risk.

Scanners are already getting nerfed hard. As it is I'm planning on going from a 24/7 scannerina to a scout, which offers a far superior scanning option. If active scanners lit up the user as well they will be in the 'might as well remove them from the game' category, along with contact grenades, flaylocks, and burst ARs. |

Not really, when using an active scanner your entire squad see the scanned enemies, my idea would only give a vague idea of the direction of the person who did the scan but it would do nothing to help you know where the other 5 guys who now see you on their radar.

Not a pin point, (dependent on passive scanning skills) but a general location would be a nice counter to the uncounterable.

Have the direction indicator be more accurate based on the difference between the scan and your profile. So if you beat it by a small margin, do only know you got scanned. If you beat it by a large margin, like 20 or more, you get a short timed gold hit detection similar to the red dmg direction indicator. If you beat it by a vast difference, IE proto scout with all skills and full damp vs a basic scanner, you pin point their exact location for 3 seconds. |

What if it's a low DB scout that's doing the scanning ??? Then one can ask the question ... why can I see them now but my passives can not pick them up any other time ???
Just seems like another easy mode . There has to be something's in this game that can not be countered and leaves an element of surprise . CCP nerfed passives to promote actives , now if they fix passives to actually work ( I use precision enhancers , profile dampeners and rangers as well and they really don't do much unless it's proto and one has a active scanner ) without being 5 meters away from the combatant .
I'm not knocking the ideal but it was like the players that wanted a laser indicator to help spot snipers when that's the purpose of sniping , to not be detected while providing logistics and support for your squad .
Suggestion like these just seem like they do more harm than good , I mean what's the purpose of stealth ???
Edit : If this is possible then there should be a cloaking indicator as well .
Leave all negative comments about tanks in the bin marked " TRASH " and we'll get to it as soon as possible . Thank You
