So I allocated my SP unwisely early in my DUST 514 career. Using the SP from special events and whatnot I now have armor and shield upgrades at 5, core upgrades, engineering and electronics all at 4. Do I continue to save SP and max those three out or use my refunded SP after Wednesday to get my beloved Minmatar Commando? I'm tempted to wait and max those three out to see how 1.8 plays out. But I'm impatient.
Thanks, and cheers. |

I would say max cores, but that's just my opinion.

I'd say cores because once you have those maxed out, you never have to worry about them ever again.

use protofits.com set up your skills and if you have enough to cpu/pg use the modules you want on the suit you want then dont bother as it would only add 6% to cpu and pg

Dropsuit upgrades are always good but it's important to have at least one proto suit 1) for PC if you are planning on participating and 2) they take forever to unlock. Remember they are only refunding sp in Dropsuit command so plan out sp accordingly. |

None of the skills you listed are wasted. You can stop at electronics and engineering 4 for quite some time. If you want a new suit you should treat yourself.

core skills 5 is something you should wait on, the return on sp spent is very, very low. 1.5mil for 5%...no thank you |

The core, engineering, and electronics are fine at level four. Considering how much SP you have, they are in a very good place. I'd personally go for the Commando, full stop...
BUT,
I'd recommend that you go for Commando level 1, at least. Then save the rest for core skills. That way you have the role you want, and learn the ins/outs and do some theorycrafting, while saving up for core skills. I imagine that will make the time go by easier.
By doing that, you may also be able to determine how much the core skills will benefit your Commando. If you realize that they will be a decent help, then great, you have some SP saved up. But if you realize that they won't provide much benefit for your builds... well, no harm, no foul, and put the savings into Commando.
It is a bit of a middle ground, but it would probably be the most prudent way to go about it, as it would leave the least room for regrets. |

DON'T LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE HERE.
Yeah, okay, maxing out core skills is great and all...
But look, a dropsuit costs 2.5 MILLION sp to get to proto. You know how hard it is to save up for that? You don't ever get this much sp bunched up from events like this all the time.
And grinding just to unlock a suit is the most annoying thing in the world. At one point I had to wait 2 months just to save up enough sp to get my prototype minmatar logistics, and the lack of skill point spending was driving me crazy.
If you don't have a better suit, or at least the bonuses you get at level 5 from that suit's skills, then what's the point of having a huge amount of cpu/pg? Sure you might not run proto very often, but the only reason you'd need that extra 5% pg/cpu is if you need that space because there's no better place to put your sp.
Besides, if you're not a logi, getting engineering/electronics to 5 is very wasteful in terms of sp. Also, the heavy suits are all getting a fitting increase, so you won't need that extra space anyways lol _____________________________________________________
Don't go wasting millions of sp like that to "max passives" when you have less than 10 million sp. I'm currently at 40 million, and had maybe 25 million sp before I put circuitry to level 5. And I'm a logi, I was cutting corners trying to fit everything onto my suit anyways.
As a commando you're looking at maybe two weapons and a few modules, possibly an equipment. As long as you're using an advanced suit instead of basic, then you should have no problem fitting-wise.
Hope this helps

This is a guide I made for logistics, but maybe take a look at it and see how I balance out skills as you progress. You might want to put a lot more in weaponry (since that's the whole point of a commando), but hopefully it helps somewhat in terms of how you should upgrade your skills.

Sounds like you have weapons covered for the time being OP, and good on you for putting work into cores so early. I was advised to do this when I startes and yes, it is the way to go.
I would say go ahead and get an advanced suit right now, seems you have a good chunk of cores. You can run advanced suits and be really effective against almost anyone.
So yea, i'd say enhances suit, then more core work (you don't need to 5 all the cores right now, but armor, armor plates, biotics, cores, shields, and shield extenders are good to 5. Beyond that depends on your role. For the electronics and engineering, i've had those at 3 and 1 forever and i'm not planning on upping them any time soon). For your weapons, i'd wait till after 1.8 to decide which weapon you really love, then start working on your proficiency. It does sound a bit like you have spread yourself thin weapon wise, but no biggie.

Elec/Eng 4 should be more than enough pretty much forever, unless you want to fit all proto everything. Get the suit. |

Thanks for all the constructive responses. I should get just over 1M SP back on Wednesday, just enough to get my advanced Commando and have a bit to spare. With armor and shields at 5, and core/elec/eng at 4 I should be in a pretty good spot. I already have hives and uplinks at 3, and my two preferred weapons at 4.
Then I just save my SP and decide if I want to go proto min commando, min sentinel, upgrade weapons or equipment.
Thanks again for the feedback.
Cheers. |

Can't go wrong with passives. I have all maxed except engineering and electronics which I have at 3.
It'll get boring, though, so I suggest unlocking the standard or advanced variant of 1 suit to have spice in your fittings. Or 2 standards. |

I'd say 4 is good, give yourself a new suit/role or two so you can get some variety in your playstyle. One thing i would spend points on before suits is dampening - check the new charts for what scans what to figure out if you need to go to lvl 5.
Would also get the other scanning skills to 3.
I support SP rollover.

Then you can use that to win more SP
My cores are 4 and my commando 3 has excess pg/cpu. As Shay said Heavy is getting a buff.... again |

Get your weapons to 5 and a bit into proficiency. I'd say at least 2, but 3 would be best and is easy to save up for.
As a commando this is important, and makes your advanced weapons as effective or more than proto without this bonus.

If you can take your commando to Lv5, the suit is a no brainer.
Your cores skills improve your suit. No sense in having good core skills with a basic suit to go along with.
