Sure i'll jump on the band wagon of retardation.
Yeah and back in the hard days the only players around were the people who just installed and were going to quit in a week and the beta players with their 30-50 mil sp were just rolling over us constantly, man I wish I could have just one battle academy match back then...... wait.
There is way too much Edge going on in here, everyone's going to get cut. Claiming to have had it hard when seeing one proto suit was like seeing a unicorn let alone the full time proto death squads that appear in every match today.
I know its tandamount that everyone who plays fps thinks they are god's gift to fps games, but when you all were running around with 1 mil sp and no battle academy you were still better off then now, when you have 520k sp after 5 battle academy matches (If you were lucky) and then run into a wall of maxed out skill using vets. I know you guys like to think you are MLG pros but it really is just the double to triple ehp and damage/accuracy boosts showing those noobs what's up.
It's like if WoW threw the level 10s in with the level 60s and said HTFU then whined about how they used to have to fight other level 10s back when they started but the font was so bad u guise! |

I went against guys with their cores maxed running around in death wielding AR/LR suits slaughtering the entire opposing team. But one day I was accepted by a corp because of my excellent noob logi skills. I was the guy stacked with stamina regs running across the map to save your sorry ass, I was the guy that was in the tank with you just in case you needed a repair tool. But enough of my rants, but what most people don't know is that EVE is exactly like this you gotta find a group of guys that make you laugh and stick with them. The NPE is the corporations willing to accept the new guy.
Eve would be exactly like this game if Eve was nothing but factional warfare. |

Scheneighnay McBob wrote:Sgt Buttscratch wrote:This game kills a lot of potential customers, vets are so obsessed with the "back in my day", "HTFU" mentality. Reality is the game will die before ccp want it to, NPE will be a major factor in this. Quality of players > quantity of players
>Implying new players = lower quality.
But then who will you have to inflate your kdr if it keeps spreading word of mouth that this game is ****? Which is what is happening right now, everytime someone installs this game then get's raped when CCP throws them in a lobby with someone who has much better gear then them when they haven't even learned the game.
Take Payday 2 for instance, tons of **** that isn't self explanatory that must be learned as you go. Now imagine if Payday 2 only had 3 day missions on overkill and a jewelry store on normal. It doesn't though because although Overkill can **** things up like all gaming companies do at times they weren't full blown ******** and figured they should have varying levels of play.
Call of Duty on the other hand doesn't have anything whatsoever when it comes to varying difficulty in a multi-player environment. But here's the thing, Call of Duty basics can be mastered in about 10 minutes with the nuances in about 3 hours.
This game on the other hand has maybe about 1 hour of basics to master with about 5 hours of understanding the nuances, and then a sp ceiling requiring 6 months to a year of grinding to "git gud" and harden the **** up.
This game is artificially skilled, not individually skilled which is fine I knew what I signed up for, but don't get hit with a stupid stick and try to pretend that grinding is an acceptable form of skill acquisition and by skill I mean player ability not skill points.
You can hate the newbies but don't be a pretentious ass that thinks he's good because he he has the numerical skill boosts that make him better. Understand that most "Humans" play games to have fun and don't find hiding in their redline or running out as cannon fodder as fun. And whether or not you care, this game is hemorraging money and is at this point a tax write off and it will get closed down if CCP cannot appeal to a larger market. |

I know for myself, when my ps3 friends ask me about this game when they see me playing it from time to time, I just tell them it's my guilty pleasure. I tell them though no one should start playing this game, there is no real reason to play a game like this "now", when it started sure, but at this point, it's a sinking ship with no land in sight. This new update isn't going to do anything but give the vets some new things to play with for a bit, hell that's why I'm playing again for now, but the newbies will still be getting thrown into the pit with a rusty spoon and told to "HTFU".
Edit: After all games are meant to be fun. Inb4 flaying their genitals by dying over and over to proto stomps = fun
Double-Edit: Also, Inb4 but Eve is like this game. Really? Where's the ******* PVE? Because, PVE would give newbies something to do between wincing from the proto-stomps. Where's our High-Sec? How is this game anything like Eve? Because it shares lore? Woooooooooo!!! |

Second Cerberus wrote:I would agree the NPE parallels to EvE are a bit of a stretch as the games are operating under completely separate business models.
Only a few percent of FTP players are going to spend money and as players gain SP, they have less use for boosters and the like meaning sales to existing players could stagnate. In my opinion, BPO's were the best monetized option that CCP has offered and they are on their way out. I don't even look at the new packs as I have enough SP to skill into at least the STD level of the suits and weapons I'm interested in.
A successful FTP game needs a large, renewing player base. EvE has true PVE to ease players into the game and the subscription model to make a smaller player base viable. DUST has neither of these.
A stagnant userbase with no need for consumable microtransactions is the quickest way to kill DUST. Everyone should support a better NPE to attract new players. I am really struggling to think of how a bigger userbase would be a negative for any vet.
From what I can tell, it's because CCP itself on numerous occasions, even so far as making a ******** music video, has supported the screw the new guy attitude. Yes it's childish but the fans will mimic the attitude of the developers.
That and of the hundred or so people I've spoken to over comms since I started playing this only 5 of them could I say are mature adults. Plenty of adults, but many are your stoner gangster wannabes or the classic fps nerd where he has to one up everyone in conversation and act like a complete tool.
Edit: I guess what I'm trying to say is the community being awful doesn't help the NPE either, hence Sebiestor Field Sappers fo life fo shizzle..... |
