It seems that the fatal blow to the team isn't the enemy tank but the friendlies unwillingness to go AV. Dust is designed around Squad Play. If you aren't in chat with a Squad you are at a significant disadvantage.
I have been chased out and killed even in my best tank more than once. By what? A squad of AV that knew what they were doing.
Lone wolf should be PvE. CCP/Shanghai promised it and they have not only not delivered it but have quit mentioning it. Do not go alone into that Dust battlefield. Normally you will die. Against a tank, even more likely.
From the tankers viewpoint 99% of these posts are from Mercs that don't know how to run a tank. Without knowing how to run them they are even farther from being able to fight them. The older AV crowd wants the days of One Button Kills with Proto swarms using double damage mods against paper tanks. Those days are gone, thankfully.
And so it goes.

Rynoceros wrote: --- snip bad tank math --- Just so we are on the same page, a bare Militia tank cost 60K. All slots filled will run ~70-100K. A STD tank with ADV gear will run 250-300K and with Proto is 400-530K.
Get the math close if you expect anyone to pay attention to your QQ.
And so it goes.

I don't only run tanks. I run on the ground when I am with friends that do ground. If my tanker buddies are on then that is what I run. Lone wolf depends on what I am feeling like. Lately I have been learning to fly Derp Ships so crashing and death seem to be near the top of fun things to do in Dust. For me, Dust is for playing with friends. Otherwise the myriad problems with the game make it not worth the effort.
No, I wasn't one shot killed by any AV ever. Although before 1.7 a militia tank could be real close to dead with a Proto Swarmer hit because the next one was already on the way by the time the first had contacted. Which is why I rarely run militia tanks even today.
I was talking about 1.7 and getting killed with today's AV, run by a decent squad that knew what they were doing. I have avoided those as well. And yes, I over extended, partly because they did one hell of an ambush and thus they deserved mention. Because in this river of QQ hardly any seem to realize that tanks die to AV. To a single AV Merc ... not so much. Unless they have Proto Forge.
The part that is funny to me is the actual New Berry AV crowd, or some incredibly stubborn Blues, that hammers me with Militia Swarms (called baby swarms by tankers) that cannot take my armored tank shields down. Yet, they continue to stand there firing volley after volley. Fine. If I have the rounds or the time I can try to hunt them down. The way the hit detection doesn't work on large rail gun turrets it is rarely worth the effort. If I am running a blaster then it is always worth the time.
And so it goes.

Any fresh QQ from the poor AV Kittens?
Armor and shield hardeners both got their Nerf Hammers lowered on them?
Comments? QQ? Flame wars - nah, we had those. Just update the current situation.
My side is still the same, good AV with two or three can take out a tank if the driver makes a single mistake. If the driver is using a Militia HAV then the odds are usually in the AV favor as many run weird combinations that do little to increase survivability of the tank itself. No, I almost always go down with the tank.
Some super Proto AV loner will attempt to take me out, but I exit stage whatever and leave them alone. If in a squad I call for support and the problem is eliminated soon enough.
Baby swarms are still being fired in horrendous useless volleys and I still have no idea why a Red Belle cannot do math.
I did change some of my fits (not really a multiple hardener tanker) to fall back to more repair or better repair. My current blaster runs dual scanners and that helps clean the mediocre AV crowd out. Although a cloaked scout can be tough once they start running the blaster rounds are usually faster. Not always though.
The multiple hardeners is a real problem in Dust because the odds were very ugly for turning on one hardener and when attempting to turn on the next Dust would turn off the first. Then no hardeners at all. Fun, lost several tanks to that cannot figure out which module to cycle even though the indicator is in the middle of the module. Such is Dust however. Even turning on a scanner an kill a hardener. Or anything else for that matter.
Personally I am pleased that the shield tankers can no longer run -120% damage. That was tough for even a Particle Cannon to get through.
And so it goes.
