Ok so here is something i loved about that game. There was a virtual shooting range. You had a room where you could go and it was full of virtual images and other assorted things like flying objects and some of the people walked around in a pattern. In this room you could walk around and do whatever to the targets: melee them, shoot them, blow them up, ect. AND you could switch to whatever guns and items you could use. The coolest part to me was that if you hurt an image, there was a txt on your screen that told you how much damage you did to the target. All in all this was a great way to test out stuff in a relaxing manner.
I dont know what the doors in your room are for, ive never seen any posts about them, but i think a virtual shooting range would be awsome.
Please ccp let me shoot stuff in the privacy of my own home :D
I could never describe this room completely to people who have never seen it so here is a video for the tubes of you

Maybe if we get this idea going it could be real in the distant future woooo :~D

Ok cool good for you. One door can lead to the place where you can see fake boobs, since you never get puss, and the other door can be a shooting range for people who like to try new stuff to use in the game.
Btw there are all kinds of ******** games like that go play those instead. |

MGO was fun. If they didn't shut down their server, I would still be shooting people in the back in that game. But since they did, I'm shooting people in the back in this game.

This was already suggested hundreds of times by the community (me included) to CCP but the fact of the matter is there are priorities that need to be addressed first. Fortunately 1.8 seems to address a lot of those priorities so here's hoping the next update will bring us a training room of sorts.

it would be a superb addition if DUST could feature a testing facility of some sorts.
fit a new proto fitting, test it out on an NPC clone, set the clone to run jump attack or stand still, or strafe. |

Dude you have no idea how time consuming that game was. There was literally no other game that could exist beside it. In MGO you could lvl up your skills, costumise your appearency (from top to bottom), earn credits to buy stuff in a seperate store by playing SURVIVAL, Survival was not ordinary pub matches a team of 6 allways faced another team of 6 which made it very competetive, in game tourny matches at every weekend where you could earn unique clothes etc.
That game was unique in terms of gameplay and it let you costumise your char completely by changing clothes etc. which where all cosmetic and didnt had a impact on the game. It was allmost impossible to see a exact same char in the game due to large variety of options. Hell you could even decide what ingame voice your char had.

MGO was the best online PvP the PS3 has seen and may ever see Hopefully the new MGS will keep it going, to those who disagree......
You clearly never tricked an enemy using the cover of a cardboard box Or played capture the flag with a rubber duck.... Or melee'd a guy to unconsciousness Groped his body, stole his weapons and slapped him around some more ....
MGO!!!!!! Unarguably the Best PS3 Shooter so far

The best game I ever played. From the best series. I do wish they had finished it with that game, but, money :/

You didn't need to put that much time into it. I should know, I didn't focus on leveling skills and my KD/R was crap. I do think it'll drag you away long enough that Dust won't be the only attention grabber. All I would play for hours would be TSNE man...give me that and I'm good.

First of all, you are comparing apples to oranges Termin8ter. You should keep in mind that features that work with a specific game do not necessarily work with another. Especially when you are mixing a tactical espionage action game that revolves around its storyline and characters with a tactical shooter that relies on the human players' stories and is backed by the immense lore of EVE Online.
Secondly, the doors in your room are closed because there is no necessity for exploration of the station your mercenary 'lives' at. That means CCP has no obligation whatsoever to build a whole station with a central hub for weapons testing, despite the idea sounding 'cool' at first it would be a massive technical challenge, especially when more important parts of the game need to be nailed out.
Finally, throwing around ideas in a constant manner doesn't ensure their success, especially in Dust 514's situation where the main ideas that are needed at the moment are potential improvements to mechanics and existing features. I don't think any developer has the heart to tell you that your wild idea will likely never be applied.
Also for everyone else in this thread; back your opinions with logic, and any speculation must have a link to a reliable source. Not everyone has seen the same content, or has the same eyes as yours. I am not trying to 'police' the posts, but I am merely mildly annoyed. |

if you could read you would realize that im not comparing them, i am suggesting that the idea be looked; however, i am well aware of the fact that ccp is still working on other ideas. hence why i said in the distant future. and besides whats the fun in only being stuck in a room and fighting need more than that to provide a long lasting game. lastly, it would be useful to be able to test out different fits and see how they work without dieing.

Trial and error is the heart of a game like Dust 514, and that's why you have different numbers such as KDR to provide you whether or not the current fit you have chosen does indeed fit your play-style.
Your suggestion basically won't help the game at all; it would only introduce some extra miscellaneous thing that is not really necessary when the guts of the game are located into joining a battle and using the ideal dropsuit that fits with the situation and that also you are capable of using.
The community does indeed aid into the development of a game, especially in Dust 514's case and that is a known fact. |
