Care to elaborate why you think thales have no place in a public match?
All I see from your post is: "because!"
In my opinion, Thales are the only TRUE sniper rifles in this game, due to the fact that they kill most infantry targets in one shot (you know, the way a sniper rifle is SUPPOSED TO!). |

Any use of the word "crutch" gets an automatic hide-posts for the offender. What would you call it then? I often see the same people using the same red line exploits. It's obvious they can't play the game unless they do it from the safety of their red line. Would you like to coin a new phrase?
The thing is though, all maps suffer from ****** design.
A good sniper finds a good vantage point to snipe from. Good vantage point = high ground with good overview of ones surroundings and the target.
Now look at most maps in the game. Almost all of them are "bowl"-shaped, with the redline covering the only areas that are good vantage points for a sniper.
So what do you propose a sniper should do? Run around with a sniper rifle in cqc and look like a complete idiot and get killed in the process?
Don't blame the snipers just because they're doing what a sniper should do. Blame ccp for inventing such a stupid concept as a redline to begin with.
Oh and in b4 "you crutch using scrub": I don't even have the skills to be able to use a Thale... |

I can't actually think of a game offhand where a sniper rifle instakills infantry without a headshot. And in games where they instakill with a headshot, it takes a little more skill to do.
I don't really care about games though. In real life, a proper sniper rifle definitely insta-kills someone, or the sniper simply missed.
Not a lot of "wounded by sniper" people out there honestly. |

I don't know if you've followed arms development over the years but specialized weapons tend to be more effective than any kind of armor.
That's why the thale is the only real sniper rifle. No sane weapons developer would try to pass something of as a "sniper rifle" if it is easily defeated by body armor. Snipers are a picky lot of people and it only takes a few thumbs down from them in order to ruin sales of a particular rifle completely. It has been so in the past, is so in the present, and will be so in the future. |

It is also an example of why sniper rifles are actually underpowered in Dust currently, and will be more so in 1.8.
Yup. Rather stupid really. Increase ttk for all other weapons if you like, but a sniper rifle that doesn't kill in one shot doesn't deserve to be called a sniper rifle. |
