Upon spawning into a match that had just started, I called in my nice, shiny assault drop ship worth a little under 500k ISK (cheap, I know). The kind RDV dropped the drop ship (wub wub wub) and the drop ship proceeded to asplod. This did not make me happy, but I decided to move on and call in another drop ship, same fit. This new RDV came in and was like hey, you called for your drop ship? Wouldn't it be a shame if I dropped you drop ship in the same location that we just dropped your other drop ship, you know the place that made it splod See, it turns out that was a rhetorical question, the RDV gently placed my drop ship there, as you may have guess, it exploded on impact to the ground. Why you do this to me CCP, why you do this? Fin. |

It could be said that it was my error that in the second vehicle request I did not move far enough away. |

I am unsure of the names of maps (or if they have them), but it had those large jagged rocks (darker brown), it spawned with one of those raised squares (like the map with the 6 towers has in the middle). I called it in next to the square structure, the RDV was hovering a little bit high, but it did not seem out of the norm. RDV dropped the drop ship hits ground (presumably too hard) and esplods. |

Railgun tank? Those are pretty common. It could have been farming your dropship.
Impossible, it was the start of the match, I was watching the drop ship, I would have noticed if it was. |

Again, the map it was on would not allow forge gunners to shoot that far. And as I said before, I would have seen if the drop ship was being shot. The drop ship hit the ground and lost all hp, then splod. |

To me, RDVs seem quite... useless. I mean, they one bring your vehicle in an area with nothing above it (no roof/overhang...). Would it not be more efficient to just have the vehicle drop straight from the sky? For instance, maybe it had some sort of landing pad that has retro rockets to slow it down before impact.
What I am thinking is hard for me to explain at this moment, maybe I will make a suggestion post and get my thoughts together. |
