Did you want that compared to other suits? Is this an everybody will run Scout thread?
The weapon fitting is inconsequential as the logi has higher base CPU/PG (possible nerf later, but could just use FW specialist weapons to close the gap). Also, the slot configuration coupled with the higher CPU/PG allows the logi to recoup the deficit in armor and/or shields fairly easily. All this while having the added utility of additional equipment slots. Currently, the assault is not the best suit at anything nor does it have greater versatility than the frames that could be considered "adjacent" to it (Scout, Logi, Commando). So if the assault frame is not best in class at anything nor the most flexible, what exactly is it for? If I want more staying power and damage, I'll go commando. If I want lower signature and greater speed I'll go scout. If I want equal or better tank with more equipment, I'll go logi. Mediocre at several things isn't a class defining characteristic (or at least shouldn't be), but that seems to be where the assault frame is at currently.

Sidearms may go from being nice to have to necessary for a"slayer". when you run slayer logi you are basically sacrificing being able to run decent equipment to run the tank and weaponry of an assault while foregoing the sidearm in 3 out of 4 logi suits
Good discussion going on here. I do think the sidearm slot will take on a greater role/importance. However, the reduction to equipment fitting costs for logis may make is possible to run a first rate slayer set up and still be able to fit decent equipment, which doesn't seem like much of a sacrifice. Regarding the assault suit being the entry level slayer suit, I agree that it is initially SP efficient, but that seems unsatisfying given that it will still take a couple months of SP to bring it to proto. Why not spend your SP on one of the other suits, knowing that you'll be using a slayer set up and then use your incremental SP over the next several months to fully realize the other possible roles of the frame (true scout/logi/whatever)? The scout, commando and logi suits don't require you to make many sacrifices with regard to fitting once your core skills are maxed. You can run a scout with full proto tank and primary weapon (swap in a signature or scan mod if desired) and still run a cloak and compact hive. Change your plates to ADV ones and now you can run an ADV cloak. In a game that offers slow incremental improvement, spending SP on a dead end seems counter productive for limited short term gain. I like the idea of the assault suit, but it currently suffers in comparison to other frames. Just my thoughts.
Cheers,
