I LOVE blueprints. Love 'em.
The fact that I get an unlimited amount of these sweet, unique textured items is brilliant.
However CCP have taken to putting the newer textures on consumable suits. I love these new State Protectorate suits, but do I really have to buy a new pack every time burn through them? Or do I just leave them in my assets only to flaunt in the warbarge(for 20 seconds if you have an SSD).
This leads to us more frugal mercs who love the look of these consumable suits but loathe to think of paying for them to just forgo them entirely or buy just the one for previously mentioned warbarge flaunting of yo' assets.
Personally, I was so ready to drop money on the Covenants and the Drens because of their permanence, now I only seem to want to spend my money/aurum on boosters as they give a permanent stat boost.
Where am I going with this I hear you cry, assuming you haven't TL;DR'd this anyway.
Why not alter how blueprints work or edit suits by adding an extra slot here on referred to as the cosmetic slot. A slot in which you plug in decals and paint jobs for your specific suit you are using. For example, Let's say I have my sweet as heck Caldari assault suit. I add a Covenant themed paint module to the cosmetic slot and bam! Permanent colour change but still consumable suits keep the economy of destruction churning!
This feature has endless possibilities. Remember that State Protectorate suit? Well now grind those Caldari LPs and every assault suit can look like that! Corporation need a group colour scheme? Everyone pick up that sweet Raven paintjob and plug it into your suits at the reasonable cost of ~5-10k aurum. CCP makes money and you get to customize your suits and there is no pay to win advantage!
Heck, PS3 willing imagine being able to paint a skull on that Caldari helmet and rock the red Covenant colour scheme. Scare the heck out of some democratic whiners!
As the core mechanic is already included in dust with the many aurum and blueprint dropsuits available surely this wouldn't be too taxing on the ol' PS3 or CCP to implement.
What do you guys think?
EDIT: To clarify, this I'd rather have it such that this was a new function and old blueprint suits still exist and function as they do today.
