I haven't seen a lot about this, but it really seems like my beloved Minmatar is getting the **** end of the stick when it comes to Sentinels in 1.8.
I understand the speed boost is nifty, though, it doesn't seem nearly significant enough to counteract the massive drop in EHP compared to other suits.
Then there's the resistances. Yes, having shield resistances to laser weapons is a good thing, the amount of people you encounter using said laser weapons is low, and I would think those numbers won't go up very much as the heavyocalypse is upon us.
Rails, and projectiles will still be the most used weapon types around. Thus leading me to believe the Gal sentinel has the best resistances.
Now lets talk about slots. 3/2 would be fine if there were high slots that augmented armor, or damage resistances in some way. But there aren't. Seeing as how sentinels rely mostly on armor (unless you're Caldari), Minmatar sents are extremely crippled here.
It could just be me, but I'm finding it hard to justify going Minmatar over Galente. It seems the Minmatar sentinel is the only suit in it's class that doesn't rely on actual tanking.
A sentinel without a ton of EHP doesn't sound like a very enticing offer to me. I would LOVE to hear how other people are justifying spending 3m SP to get a proto Minmatar sentinel. I would be happy if someone could convince me Minmatar isn't going from Winmatar to Minmatarded. |

Trustworthy's slave wrote:Actually many people love the idea about it'' speed - think about it, you run in the underground "supply -depo room" and dish out a bullets in half a minute. Afterwards you collect tears.
But it seems you're suggesting ditching EHP for kincats or some such thing? The 5% movement bonus isn't actually that significant, unless you're using kincats, which seems to me rather contrary to what a heavy should stand for, particularly when you will be dropped by every other heavy since they have twice as much EHP, and probably have resistances vs. your weapon, where you have none vs. theirs (in all likelyhood) |

It's legit and I've chased down Assaults and Scouts alike. I don't know if the Minmatar Sentinel will be a good biotics tanker, but the Amarr Heavy can totally do it.
so then, in theory, wouldn't the Gal Sent + kincats be able to do the same as the Min Sent + kincats, but with more base EHP?
Lets consider you can fit 2x more kincats on Gal sent, and only be losing rougly 120 in shield extension, of which won't matter when your resistances are all for armor anyway...
Again, I'm not trying to argue Gal is better, it just seems that way! and thats BS! how is it even close to equal? |

Well, It seems if I go Min sent, I'm going to have to scrap proto logi for a bit to get kincats (Since i only have biotics 3, *he says, shamefully*). But that actually doesn't bother me that much, considering how rarely I actually use proto logi. |
