How about a simple notification in the HUD that says "YOU ARE BEHIND YOUR REDLINE" the same way it notifies "you have been scanned"
I don't know how much time I've wasted checking my position in the overview trying to figure out "well, I think this is good. Can't tell really" |

the redline has to be reduced by 60% for domination mode for starters.
the redline has to be some where of no strategic value, for example not a good place to snipe or use a rail tank.
also the maps need to be modified so that each side does not have huge hills and cover in there redlines.
also the redline suicide needs to go it should be a war point cut off timer(they don't get war points for kills other then for killing those who have killed them in the red line), this way if you redline rail or snipe some one they can kill you back and get rewarded for the risk witch could be a x2 multiplier.
kills done in your redline should have the war points awarded reduced by 75% if you stay in long enough say 1 minute, with a 5 minute cool down timer that doesn't go away if you get killed.
I could give you 10 reason why the Dust team cant get the Amarr tank style right but they are all out of care.

That's a lot more complicated than what I'm thinking. I just want to know, literally, where I stand. Am I inside or outside my redline? Once I know I'm outside, I'm not concerned with the rest. |

low risk should = low reward.
today I sacrificed 5 drop ships and 5 heavy fittings killing red line snipers including a thale ( some how the thale user had a 9-0 some one found a exploit cant remember the name ended with 114)
the only thing i got out of the match was ruining their perfect score if this game was balanced properly i would of only had lost 2 drop ships due to the coward in the rail tank on the hill in their end of the map.
I could give you 10 reason why the Dust team cant get the Amarr tank style right but they are all out of care.

OPEN WORLD MAPS, NO REDLINE, only explore and find fights...this is the only real solution, stop trying to convince us that there is any other real option here, it just doesn't make sense.

I think the red line should be done away with completely or at the very least a 75 to 85% damage reduction for those cowards with sniper rifles and rail tanks.

again the problem isn't the red line it's being redlined.
when a team can be pushed all the way back to the point where you cannot participate then their is something wrong with your game.
red lines didn't exist in beta in their current form, and all that results in is people camping you as you jump out of the mcc, or people inside the enemy mcc killing you their.
current map designs results in larger maps and less red line play due to that fact, and that's fine theirs your fix to red line combat, but the red lining issue still exists.
seriously people you are trying to fix the wrong issue, this isn't farm 514, so leave red lines alone and start suggesting ways to stop red lining, maybe then we can remove the red line all together. |

The problem is, coming up with a solution for being redlined would most likely involve either a significant overhaul of map layout, a significant increase in map size, or both, and implementing any of those at all, let alone without issues, would take a long time. People want a solution soon, not SOONGäó (aka: when Half-Life 3 comes out, or 3 weeks after the universe ends). |

well i wouldn't say people want a soloution soon for this, most people don't care, just some rage threads after they loss their blaster tanks to a red line rail or a proto that gets sniped.
it's better to fix it right the cause more problems.
i remember i had some suggestions that would take minimal effort to reduce red lining, but i'll have to try to find them again |

Why bother checking? There's no reason not to be in the redline with current map position.
The issue isn't the redline, the issue is where on the map the redline is. Right now, many of the best sniper perches are in the redline, because of the bowl-shaped map design.

I rather see people in the red line, than a full team hiding in he MCC just because they are getting spawn camped.
At some point players will stop playing because they will get bored from waiting in the MCC and then who will you play when there are no more players around.

If your team gets pushed back behind the red line and can't get back out then there's something wrong. Maybe a reevaluation of your tactics or playstyle would be a better suggestion.
Maybe I was a bit quick to say lets just get rid of the red line but there's got to be a way to deter players from camping in the red zone with snipers and rail tanks. I like the idea of reduced damage output, but how to implement it? Make a timer like the one when you go behind the enemy red line except as it goes it decreases damage output til it hits zero and then no damage output?
I'm all for ideas on this instead of just pointless b!tch!ng.
