You know, there are still going to be those logis out there that will try their best to fit a cloak and will wind up having something like...
1x Basic Shield Extender
GEK Plasma Rifle Toxin SMG
1x ADV Cloak Field
I could list the ways how we Amarr are better than you, but your lesser mind wouldn't comprehend it.

Would be interesting to know how this is defined, since the newly-released SDE contains nothing to show it it limited in any fashion.
Skill: #364614 (skill_dc_gallente_logistics) Applies to: #352347 (tag_equipment)
Item: #366004 (eqp_cloakfield_std) Has tag: #352347 (tag_equipment)

The SDE can only show so much I think. If the logi bonus to equipment doesn't apply to the cloak, then that means an exception was inputted into the code somewhere.

This is correct whole reason why the laser buff couldn't be hotfixed because it was not put into an easy to edit format as observable in sde.

So why not simply limit it to the scout suit? Why even make a pretence of allowing it on other suits?
Just make a cloak slot like heavies have a heavy weapon slot. That would prevent scouts from being as good as basic Logis by carrying to pieces of regular equipment at the same time. |

Because that's not how things work in New Eden. CCP wants players to come up with creative fits, but have certain suits excel in the roles they're bonused for. Hard restrictions limit creativity and is more akin to something like Planetside 2 with cookie-cutter classes.

I really hope they didn't hardcode a rule, since that would be a very "unfortunate"* way of doing it. Given the overall design used around and in CATMA, a negation-rule using CATMA attributes shouldn't be all that difficult, and I suspect that the related attributes are simply not whitelisted yet.
Note: Part of the Laser-buff is in the SDE, but other bits (like optimal range) are simply stored closer to the Unreal Dev Kit and not in CATMA.
*: trying to be nice...

Scary you say, I get your point but good logis doesn't pick a gun unless it is in their own danger. They want to survive as long as possible to support. At least that's what I think should be happening. It's not in their interest to look for enemies and slay in the first place as many logis do, not the first thing you should do in match as a logi. it is looking for looking for empty "spaces", where there are repairs needed, you repair, where there is ammo needed you put down ammo and so on. Logis should be somewhat hidden behind. I ve had matches without a thought of picking gun and shooting enemies, at the end of the match it almost seemed I wasn't part of the fight but knew when I looked at the score, few deaths zero kills and a lot of wp. |

Then why give it a 330 CPU 70 PG cost, exempt it from the Logi equipment fitting bonus, and give Scouts a 75% fitting bonus?
Sure, you can fit it on a proto Logi suit if you equip a Flaylock in your light weapon slot and leave every other slot empty, but that isn't "creative", it's "stupid" when you would be far better off buying a Scout suit instead.
Use the basic? Oh and use up half your CPU and half your PG for 30 seconds of invisibility. Do that and you have enough fitting left to fill one equipment slot if you don't want to run naked. Again, the Scout suit will perform much better and be much less expensive as well.
That's not leaving any room for creativity. |

I'm not a fitting guru, and non-scout cloaked suits will be much weaker than ones without cloaks for sure. That's not to say there couldn't be some niche roles that a cloak would be useful in on a logi, assault or commando. I could possibly picture some AV cloaked fits being a possibility if swarms and plasma cannons ever get fixed for example.

All those hacks combined with the reported significant modification of the UE3 engine makes me wonder if it will ever be feasible to port to UE4. The IT guy inside me shudders to contemplate the corner CPP is painting themselves into. |
