While I have no doubt that we will soon have an announcment of the election dates after 1.8 drops, I would also hope that CCP's plans for promoting the elections to the larger player base are also going to be made clear.

While the forums for the game are active and vibrant, especially coming up to a patch release, it's fairly common knowledge that those that come here to chat, discuss, whine and even QQ, represent a minority of the total player base enjoying the game.

Are the loading screens and the Daily Reports in the Merc Quarters going to promote the elections? Is there going to be mention if it in the subscribers email? Will it have links to the Eve vote match site, which I believe are planning a CPM version?

My point is that I think the election and the community as a whole will be better served if the voting is from as much of the community as is possible.

Thank you for any thoughts you may have.

An in game message would be good. The forums and site only reaches a % of over all active players. Also I have not seen a news letter in sometime... am I the only one?

There was a newsletter not all that long ago. They're not incredibly frequent though, and there's been a lull in things happening worth emailing people about.

The big thing will be convincing all the alliances to send out blast mails to remind folks to vote. CCP will do some work on getting the word out, players will have to do the rest.

I wondered if they could use the same/similar code to vote as they do when we get rewards.

 1) You log in and a list of rewards appear on screen.
 2) you choose the ones you want form the list and apply it to the character
 3) You log in and confirm

 Modified a little

 1) A list of candidates appear.
 2) You pick 7 or just 1. whatever takes your fancy
 3) You log in and continue.

Everyone sees the vote. Everyone has to vote to continue.

No problem on that side, leader of my alliance is a right pushy sod always bossing us about an so forth so I am sure he will nag us into voting.

I'm a firm supporter or increasing visibility for the election. I do think in game notification is critical, but the messages have give simple paths to find out more about registered candidates. The majority of users don't peruse the council chamber forum much I suspect and this is where the most complete and most public campaigning is going on.

A many players frankly don't have a decent grasp of what the CPM actually is for that matter.

I foresee a fair amount of blind voting if not careful but at this point that's probably better than no voting.

This would lead to just blind voting. Also, bear in mind, order is important as well. I mused about the idea of a mail-in ballot using in-game mail for those without a web browser, but the same concern applies: You don't want someone voting if they don't know jack about the candidates. Doesn't matter to me who someone votes for, but I generally expect them to have a reason (whatever it is) for voting the way they did.

 Completely agreed.

Ballot style voting is something that doesn't really allow blind voting to get anything near the CPM you want. And not everyone who plays the game goes to the forums to find out about each candidate. THere are a few players I've spoken too in random squads who didn't know, or care, that there even was a forum.
