24 uplinks 11 nanohives
I managed to destroy 21, possibly 22 of them with flux grenades in one go, but they just kept putting them all back. They also had like 3-4 heavies down there guarding the equipment pile...but we ended up winning because they wouldn't come out to hack the objective for the majority of the match. (Frost Kitty was doing a good job of keeping them away).
I'm hoping 1.8 buff to mass drivers and nerf to equipment health solves this...but if this isn't proof of the problem then I don't know what is >.>

I am going to like stacking on damage mods with a assault mass driver and destroying uplinks like a flux...I hate to restate the obvious but the MD really is going to have a utility beyond killing people in PC matches.

That is why I hate that map in pubs it is annoying when a team (even worse both) decide the key to victory is having knee high piles of equipment in that little room and refuse to come out even when they lose every point. I have had many a game where 2 squads or so would just sit in that room with stupid amounts of equipment and happily lose the match because going for the objective does not seem to occur to them.
It is not so bad in PC where having a squad holding a room too far from an objective to easily stop a hack is not a good idea but still some corps in PC focus on that room and spam equipment like there is no tomorrow. I had one PC match on that map not too long ago where I did pretty much as you did in that video but with a shotgun and I took out 22 uplinks, I really fail to see why some one would think 22 uplinks within a few meters of each other is a good thing, all it does is make the crap MLT ones hard to avoid as they are jammed in right next to the decent ones.

I had a suggestion about this that would be tied into the lore. Most equipment in the game uses nanites so it would make sense that many in the same area would create some noise and interference. The more noise there is in the area the slower your equipement will resupply, respawn, and heal you. If a single person drops too much equipment within 10m or so all of the equipment will explode after a few warnings on your tacnet.
Uplinks could use a different frequency than nanohives so you're not penalized for paring them up. I think this would promote smarter equipment placement and remove clutter during those pc matches where it's a sea of red and blue pulsating circles on the map.
It could be dust's version of time dialation.

I think someone is trying to spell out "HELP" with the equipment to get them out of there.

The way I see it, equipment spam should be doable, it just shouldn't be allowed to affect the framerate like it does... But I think it's just that PS3 can't handle that memory... :/

See, you're going after just part of the problem, and not dealing with the root, the source of the problem.
What really needs to happen is a limit to equipment that a single player can place so that if you want to spam equipment you need more than just one person with a bunch of fittings.

There needs to be some kind of cap to how much equipment any one person can place, not just any one suit.

Each player has a certain amount of deployables bandwidth (this could even be a skill). With the skill at 0 you can deploy 2 things at once and when capped at lvl 5 you get up to 7 per person. The numbers might be adjusted a bit. Dedicated Logi players will want to make that SP investment, most non-Logi players would rather use those points to buy something that kills stuff.
Best PvE idea ever!

i think its fine. besides it's counter productive to the team spamming them in so close an area. noobs will just stay there, where you should be leading all the noobs outside to fight, and putting equipment in places to strengthen and dominate a wider area. equipment cap and all the other crazy suggestions would be weak, because you can't punish people for playing with strangers. i like the dude who said there should be some sp investment, that kind of makes sense. in order to drop 2 proto uplinks, or 3 proto hives etc, you have to invest in a ability to do so. if you don't, you can only drop 1 proto hive/uplink etc at a time. the only real problem is that it causes lag, right? the argument that it's a scrubby way to get sp is kinda weak, as using a RR, tank, or any fotm is a 10x scrubbier way to get SP. |

You missed the part where someone dropping all of their equipment within a certain range will have all of the equipment be destroyed. This would make it so you would need multiple logis to place equipment at a choke point, and even they would have to spread it out for max efficiency.
Imagine those 24 uplinks in that small area having the times increased by like 2 or 3 times. It would be much easier to remove the equipment knowing the spawn times are so long no one will respawn on that location. If you just cap equipment per player you can still have a squad of six drop 4 uplinks each and have that same blob with no penalty.

as a logi, i suffer from the stacking, because my own uplinks and hives dont get used.
i ask myself over and over: why do my own uplinks/hives blow up, when i drop more then 2, even after i died. but a person that is using a whole suit setup to drop all uplinks/hives in the book can have so many of them on the map, even if he is switching the suit.
i think your hive/uplink should be linked to your setup. you change the setup? your stuff that you droped blows up
but maybe we need 1.8 amarr for defs to understand how this works, since they seem not to play there own game and never saw a radar with more uplinks/hives then there are players in the whole game #byebyefps |

Having to remain in a suit with your equipment deployed would make for a really dull game. Drop your hives and your uplinks, then hide in a corner because you are in a squishy suit and can't do anything else. Logisticts players are already doing the rest of you a favor. Make it too much of a chore and they will simply stop. Then all the heavies can suicide or waddle back to a SD to get more ammo. |

not sure what you mean. the item description states how many of each hive/uplinks you can have out at a time. if it says 2/3, then every hive/uplink after 2 will pop. The only item i'm aware that pops when you die is the -75% uplink, and that's for good reason. If all items popped when you died or changed out redlining would be even a worse epidemic.

or cap the area, "You cannot place droplink so close to existing equipment" a lot of other games have this system where you can't place deployables near each other. they restrict you from placing them close together
