I'm glad you addressed tanks.
I'm glad there was even ONE WORD about tanks in the patch notes!
All these new weapons and suits are going to be SO MUCH FUN when nobody can use them because
they're being farmed by tanks and can now no longer use effective swarm launchers due to the damage mod nerf.
I'm sure tanks will now be easier to take down seeing as we have one less AV grenade...
Seriously. I now have zero faith in you as a developer.
Why did you not address the number ONE issue with the game right now? Why leave it as it is?
I'm sure the new players are having fun and will continue to do so throughout 1.8...
As I said in a previous thread, if you don't address tanks people will leave and the ones who left
because of 1.7 will not be coming back! |

Not surprising to see such a comment come from someone in STB, the corp that arguably invented tank spam.
There's still tank spam in Domination & Skirmish. Sure the tankers can't hack any objective in their tanks but most objectives on pretty much every map can be assaulted & defended by tanks.

I hate tanks. I used to ***** about them. Then I realized it takes a tank to kill a tank(effectively).
Now when tanks **** me off I grab my own and go kill the bastard who annoyed me. Most full time tankers have the courage of a little girl so they are easy to kill or chase away.

It's actually the only fun mode for me when I decide to play because it's better than running around hacking terminals ( skirmish) and camping the only objective on the map (domination)
After Uprisings release the forums were a bad place, I'll never forget how CCP screwed up so badly.

Camping the objective isn't the way to win dom... That's just how you get yourself killed very easily. The idea is to push them back and stop them getting close... By spreading out and defending the approaches. If you all gather in one place *runs away from the warbarage.* |

I don't think I should be excluded from a certain game mode because of one abusive feature in the game. Team deathmatch, or "ambush" as its known as in dust is the bread and butter of EVERY shooter out there. Its supposed to be a game mode where you can just turn your brain off and just shoot something as opposed to having to go cap some objective, well its really hard to do that when you get spawn raped by tanks the entire game. At least in my opinion.

We had three players who used tank back in pre-beta. Tanks were much different back then, and I would hardly call it "tank spam". Just because three players accounted for three percent of the total community back then doesn't mean we really spammed tanks that much. Now if you want to see a corp that tank spams consistently, look at AE in PC matches, and NS in pub matches.

OP is complaining that tanks are overpowered. They are a bit, just not to the extent OP is proclaiming.
In ambush, the whole point is straight up killing, something tanks excel at. ~80% of those players are med frame users, and the only light AV weapon is a swarm launcher which hardly anyone is heavily skilled into. Not to mention being AV leaves you very susceptible to enemy infantry which seem to generally cluster around tanks. Needless to say , the odds aren't in your favor.
However in S/D, tanks are far less effective because the game isn't completely about killing. Tanks are ineffective in cities, can't hack objectives, and can essentially remove a player from the game. (Granted, some maps are more accommodating than others).
Tanks are "OP" in ambush because few people are equipped or have the teamwork to fight tanks AND infantry, the maps are generally more open, and a tanks one and only function is to kill. Ambush is literally a tanks bread and butter, like complaining that a sniper 300m away can easily kill you in an open field.
Sure, I think some things need changed: lower meta hardeners need lower effectiveness, better spawns, fewer tanks per team maybe, but the truth of it is that tanks will excel in ambush no matter what.
(PS, ADSs work wonders is ambush)

I wasn't around in pre-open beta however I remember back in Chromosome anytime I seen any STB in a match they were always riding around in tanks; I spent countless matches in my AV suit the entire time when STB was on the other side. When someone wanted a tanker in their squad they hit up STB because you guys had the most tankers and some really good tankers.

heh! the problem is that there's a limit, whether it is high or not, on tanks you can spam: if there were no limits, it would actually become WOT514, and might be enjoyable and save the poor infantry from slaughtering. If the limit were much lower, it would be ok, considering it will take at least four AVs to destroy a tank. drop the tanks per team limit to 2, CCP! you can hot fix this!
