Actually, this is exactly what I expected.
I would rather that CCP didn't add any more changes without reviewing it with us first as a community. So far, everything in that 1.8 patch notes has already been reviewed by the community beforehand. Would you rather that CCP throw in any more changes that didn't get screened by us beforehand?
So far the only things that didn't get screened by us is the grenade change and AV WP change.

Sort of my problem right now, I want this game to be great because it has so much damn potential. But CCP moves too slow, too many problems for them to fix and so much to add. But I have this bit of hope that CCP has great stuff ready to be released soon. Sort of keeps me paying attention to dust and since fanfest is near it really seems like the right time for CCP to show great things for Dust.
We all want Dust to be great. So that is not your problem. Your real problem is you expect so much too soon and a lot of stuff we want needs to undergo balancing passes and all that jazz before we can get our hands on it. Not to mention the fact that CCP needs our input first before implementing any further content or changes.
The last time CCP implemented a "surprise" in any of the previous patch notes, the community didn't like it and it just further reinforced the community's opinion that CCP doesn't listen to its player base. So far, CCP implemented almost exactly what we expected to see after reviewing it for the past 3 months.

Agreed.
When was the last time CCP dropped a "surprise" that DID go well?

It would be nice if CCP would release the minimum concurrent user average they are willing to accept. With the forthcoming tank changes, new players will not stand a chance. That's really not good lol, November is still very far away and Destiny gets released in September. And Dust needs a lot of stuff it should have already.
Last time I checked, DUST is not meant to compete with Destiny.

They also fixed the nova knife jamming in 1.7 and that wasn't on the patch notes either.
