So in theory cal scout will he hunter. In practice, he will need at least 1 compx damp, so he can hide with cloak. That gives one slot for range amp.
Correct me if im wrong. Cal scout will need that damp, so he will can hide with cloak from scaneners and another cal scout. This way he will only scan at 40meters. Tell me if im right\wrong.
Cal/gal is hard to decide. But if i need to damp my hunter, why not just go gal ? |

I believe that 1 complex range on cal scout will reach well over 60+m.
But yes it will need a profile damp to hide from scanners

._.?
If they're the hunters, they're better off stacking Range Amps and using the cloak for a buff.
All scouts will be able to avoid ADV scanners at base, I believe, so the cloak should take away from the base profile when used.
Gallente aren't really supposed to use the cloaks but they will probably be able to, just at the price of being gimped in offense and defense(because armor repair, ferroscale plates, shield modules, and damage mods won't be used as much or at all). Still, I think it's better to ignore the cloak altogether for the Gal Scout and just stack the best modules.

Why not Gal? Because you can't scan scouts at all and the Cal scout can dampen enough to get by. One complex dampener can get past everything except a Gallogi w/ proto scanner, and even then it just needs a basic damp.
Gal is overkill dampening wise if you ask me.

The Caldari Scout looks like perimeter detection to me. They see virtually everything that enters their very wide zone of detection so that others can react. They're like an always on active scanner. You can use them to hunt, just like all the scouts. One Caldari Scout running with a squad will be able to direct them to where they need to be without the constant "YOU HAVE BEEN SCANNED" messages alerting the prey.

seeing the scanner coming towards you is just as much as a counter as being dampened.

I've been saying the same thing. Caldari scouts will be best as running, shooting passive spamscanners, and Gallente scouts will continue to dominate the jack-in-the-box approach to clone elimination.

Even 45m is enough passive range for a scout. Heck, you could probably manage with 37.5m (no range amps at all but Lvl 5 in the skill) depending on the map.
The cloak will also do a lot to mitigate the need for huge passive range, as when you are cloaked, the likelihood of being noticed by someone farther than 37.5m is much lower.
I'll be using a single complex dampener and a single complex range amp on mine, and maybe double dampen if there is a Gal scout running precision enhancers or another Cal scout in the match. |

This and the description says counterinsurgency. I immediately got the idea of point defense and being able to even pick up gal scouts trying to stealth hack an objective.

I did some quick napkin math and it looks like it would take 3 complex precision enhances to for a maxed out cal scout to pick up a non-cloaked maxed gal scout.
Does that jive?
I'm very interested in picking up the scout role now that the Caldari option is available. Suit design for scout setups is a bit t of my realm of expertise.

Honestly though, the caldari scout is a hunter killer scout designed for squad based ops. The way i see it anyway. Gallente seems to be solo based as you can hide solo much better than in a group. Min is saboteurs and it doesn't matter whether solo or group, they will be fun. Amar are hit and run defender scouts with a nice beefy bit of hp for a scout.
Just my two cents that the caldari scout isnt meant to hide but be a sniffer to root out people for their squad to eliminate.
