The hmg was my first love and i was still using it when mediums with ARs would win 1v1. But with increased rate of fire and selective weapon nerfing it will be joyous **** train central. I have always thought it ridiculous that you would be able to switch to a sidearm with a heavy weapon without dropping it but forge gunners would get smashed. As a heavy i think it would help balance if you have a hmg equiped you are unable to use a sidearm. Yes there is a longer reload but you asked for it with 425 bullets.

Maybe a reduction to weapon switch speed.
I've always been amused at how rapidly I can pull up a pistol from seemingly nowhere.

The original switch speed was more realistic but someone decided to appease the COD crowd. I'd love to see it reduced and possibly based on suit type. When entering a 3 second fire fight you should pretty much be committed to what you have in your hand.
The Heavy animation should be changed so the Heavy continues to hold the main weapon with the off hand, supported by a strap, and you fire the sidearm with your right.

Thats due to your movement speed, the faster you are moving, the faster you can throw Well at least thats how I have found it to work

hmg is strapped to heavy frame, its not carried by the players arms; let go and it wont fall off .
makes perfect sense to be able to switch quickly to a handheld weapon.
light weapons are a different thing; a shoulder mounted hand-supported weapon would fall to the ground, or at the very least obstruct you, and you need to let go of a rifle and at least sling it round your shoulder before firing a sidearm is possible.
but you arent complaining about realism in those situations are you?
PS im not a heavy, I just think your contention is not valid.

What you're asking should be applied to everyone. Not just the heavy. So where exactly does the rifle go when you switch to your sidearm? If you're asking for this, all primary weapon carriers should be hampered by they're primary when using a secondary since it's supposed to be hanging from their bodies instead of just disappearing. Seems like everyone just wants to nerf the heavy. |

But if you just drop it and pull your sidearm you would most likely topple over.
And yes the switch weapon animation is too fast for all.
I would prefer they re-nerf their turning speed and possibly slow down the switch animation for everyone.

I'd like to see a Mass Effect style animation with the weapon stored somewhere visible. Really, where does that scout hide that Plasma Cannon? Wait, I'm not sure I want to know...

The strap is to distribute some weight to shoulder not for switching. Perfect sense to quickly switch from a hmg to a sidearm. As someone who has carried a machine gun that would way less then dust version no way. Before you bring up heavies being bigger i am 195cm 110 kilos.
Oh bring up light weapons brilliant. because wearing a sling on assault rifles is actually used for switching to pistols

Honestly, how in the hell do you think that is a good idea. I don't remember if the forge has it but the HMG is on a sling, and to think that the genetically modified, massively muscled, powered exoskeleton clone would have an issue with carrying/using a teeny tiny sidearm while the HMG is hanging from the sling is laughable . This idea is as bad as limited logis to just a sidearm. The graphics ingame aren't at a level to show this, but I'd hope we can see it in the future. Sorry if I'm a bit agro at your idea but................ |

Should this include reduced accuracy due to firing with one hand?

I've always been amused at how rapidly I can pull up a pistol from seemingly nowhere. The weapon storage graphics ingame are non existent, but hopefully at some stage we will have the heavy with their sidearm displayed high on their chest, and when they switch, all that happens is the heavy weapon is dropped to hang from the sling and the sidearm is quickly deployed from the chest. Other suits would have a main weapon lock onto their back similar to Mass Effect through something like a magnetic clamp with the sidearm positioned somewhere else on the body. |

As far back as Halo 3 had weapons viewable on player models. I'm sure someone can cite other games maybe even further back.
Yes - we should be able to see what people are carrying.
Technically it maybe an issue and we may not see it for years or on another platform. Experts in that area could chime in and let us know if possible.

That would look insane. How about sidearm in left hand, heavy weapon suspended on strap and held away with right hand.
Also I hink if anyone the Assault should have the fastest switch speed, to sidearm (due to it being holstered on hip), but a slower change back to light weapon.
Commando Should then have fastest to light swap speed and scout should have fastest to cloak speed.

Shouldn't be too difficult the model is simply attached to the player model continously. However we would have to watch for additional lag from having all weapons constantly rendedred. WE migh have to consider low texture renders when holstered.

The Heavy animation should be changed so the Heavy continues to hold the main weapon with the off hand, supported by a strap, and you fire the sidearm with your right. One of the basic fundamental aspects of even carrying a sidearm is having something to quickly switch to if you need to reload your weapon but need firepower now. Maybe increase weapon swap speed a little, but it still needs to be faster than most reloads.

They are actually not holding the HMG, it s strapped to them so it would be actually faster to get the sidearm, they realisticlly shoot with sidearms while they have their HMG on them, they basiclly do not put HMG aside to get some small gun. They are not just holding it with hands. |

I like this, I think you're onto something with the weapon swapping mechanics, not necessarily a change >Nerf< but something like showing both weapons you are holding, and having an animation to show *putting away/holstering your rifle* and then getting your Pistol Robocop style from your inbuilt leg holster would be awesome!
Being a heavy myself, I'm sceptical for any changes to the race specifically but logically you also have a point about the bulk of the HMG/FG and the strap etc, so maybe just food for thought for the Dev teams for future improvements.
