I tried putting this matter on the fextralife forums but as a security question it asks you for the admin's name, I'm sure it would be easy to procure but when I am frustrated enough to rant on forums about a fundamental part of the game that I think needs work I don't wanna have to stop to create an account much less stop that process to go hunt down 1 person.
I think dark souls 2's co-op system is stupid, it works great in some cases because there's lots of people around and I can always get help when I need it, but when you're trying to play with your friends it's a damn nightmare, at a minimum there should be a privacy setting. In DS1 there wasn't this much of a problem because there wasn't that many people, you could just go hide you're little summon sign and tell your buddy to go there, but with the huge population you get picked up by randoms instantly, which is great and annoying at the same time and there's no way around it.
This was mainly just to rant but if there's a way I could recommend this to the company I'd be glad to hear it.

If you're on your way to it then go for it, anything to filter out unwanted summoners or just separate the private game from the public one, I just don't want to have to wait for an hour just to get start playing 1 level with a buddy.

You're not supposed to play with your friends? Do you hear yourself? It's a game, I get that it's supposed to be about the experience and that you shouldn't just have people hold your hand through it but until dark souls can be procedurally generated that's GOING to happen, and either way, for a game that long and deep if you have that much trouble playing with your buds then it's just frustrating.
There are no hiding places, I've tried the most ridiculous places that no-one would look and I still get picked up instantly, until the population decreases trying to find a spot to meet with someone is insane and that's a stupid requirement just to be able to team up.

Name Engraved Ring Apparently according to the wiki all it does is increase the range of people that you can pick up by like 5%, we're well within range we just can't find a spot to meet up.

True Adamance wrote:I'm finally back on, what's the question again? I'm just looking for some kind of privacy setting, with the amount of people on right now it's incredibly difficult to find a place to put the sign down where your buddies can reach you before everyone else and their mother.
If we I'd be fine with a mechanic where I can change my sign to be seen by the public and only by certain people on my friend list or like someone I can keep in a contact sheet in the game, something you can just switch on and off between where everyone can see it and only select people can see it.

Did you watch the video? In addition to slightly lowering the soul memory requirements it essentially puts you (and anyone wearing the ring) on a different server (1 for each god), where you'll only see the summon signs of people that are wearing the ring & have it set to the same deity as you. Any summon signs on your screen should vanish & be replaced by those of people using the ring when you put it on & choose a deity (npc summons also won't show up if you've got the ring on). I believe the ring can be removed after summoning whoever you want. Interesting....so picking a god is essentially picking a server? how do you choose one or is it just whichever covenant you're in?
