So I just got over a pretty nasty 2 week long respiratory infection this weekend, and I won't bore you with the details but basically it got a bit scary for a few days and I decided it was finally time to take a serious shot at putting down cigarettes after 15 years of smoking.
I've done good so far. It's been 10 days since I made the descision to quit, and i've only had 4 cigarettes, down from at least a pack a day. I was wondering if there were any successfull quitters on these forums that could offer some tips/advice.
My worst cravings are after a few bad matches on Dust, lol
*after bad matches*
Me- God f*cking dammit!!! Thats f*cking bull sh*t!!! Did you see that sh*t???!!! RestlessSpirits- Yea, we saw it, its all good Dunk, just chill out. Me- Oh my god that f*cking pisses me the f*ck off. I need a f*cking cigarette!!!! RestlessSpirits- No, Dunk, you don't need a cigarette. Me- Yea, I f*cking do!! RestlessSpirits- No you don't. Me- AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Anyway, some craving and frustration control tips would be welcome. Gum doesn't come even close to working, and my once loved cups of coffee just aren't the same anymore.

Thanks everyone. I may check out those e-cigs, though i'm worried I don't have the will power to not turn those into a habit. I am somewhat amazed at the amount of taste i'm starting to get back. Hoping to smoke a pork shoulder soon to take full advantage.
I don't ever want to be one of those ex-smokers whos always trying to push non smoking on everyone, and I don't think I ever will be, but I take a nice deep breath now and jesus................I can breathe.
Hope I can keep it going.

Keep it coming everyone, i've started getting on this thread when I want a smoke bad. I don't know why but last night and today have been the worst. My mind keeps trying to rationalize buying some cigarettes. I think "i'll just buy a pack, give it to my boss or a friend, and i'll just get one when the cravings get bad". Lol, that would work for about a minute I think, and the pack would be gone in a half a day. Had to force myself to leave my money at home today cause I know I would have given in otherwise.

*sigh*
So I was pretty amped today, wanted a cig pretty bad when I got up but managed to leave my money at the house to avoid any rash descisions, got through the morning pretty good (I work outside so i'm used to having a smoke whenever I want). Then I get a call from the guy i'm having do my taxes, turns out a tax return has already been submited with my social lol. Someone got ahold of my social security number. I got some other stuff going on and that was just icing on the cake. Borrowed 10 bucks from my boss and I now have a pack of Marlboros in my pocket.
Pisses me off cause once I got home from work and relaxed the situation isn't that bad. My identity wasn't stolen (as far as I know) just that someone used my social on their tax paperwork. Feel real sh*tty cause I made such a big deal about quitting here on the forums. I guess on the positive side I got Marlboros, not the unfiltered roll your own Bugler I normally buy. Remembering now why I never switched back from Bugler to Reds (tastes like sh*t).
Trying not to be to rough on myself but damn, last night i was at 4 cigs in 10 days, and i've had 4 already today. I am really perplexed that the craving was so strong so far in, figured it would be worse in the begining. Is that normal?
Anyway, i'm trying not to let it get to me too much, trying to look at it as a speed bump rather than a failure, but i'm not pleased with myself. I'm trying to feed off the stories and insperation you guys have put up here in this thread, gonna do some e-cig window shopping this weekend, I may not have the will power for cold turkey.
Also i'm gonna start jogging this weekend. Was gonna wait till I was free and clear of cigs to start on some cardio stuff, but if I don't force myself to get going now I may never do it. Also have some sweet sweet chiba ready for me on friday. I can smoke bud inside, but not cigs. Figure i'll get nice and cozy with a qwapper and some video games, gonna try and get too lazy to walk outside lol.

My problem with alcohol is I REALLY want a cig when drinking. I'll kill a pack in 4 hours at the bar lol. I'm gonna have to be well off cigs before I pick up drinks again.

Not great unfortunately. I'm still smoking, though I have gone back to normal filter cigs, I was smoking no filter roll your owns. Ended up having a bunch of stuff all go down at once and let myself go. Pretty unhappy with myself. I'm currently looking into patches and gum. I'm not sure i'll be able to do this on my own.

Jesus christ. Yea i'd be pretty freaked out buying those things lol. I was in Canada years back, and they were kinda doing the same thing, but no where near as graphic.
