Will the uplinks stay at the reduced time for the duration of the uplink no matter what happens to the clone?
IE spawn in Amarr Logi.... spam uplinks... run to supply depot and switch to Amarr Assault.
Once switched from the Logi suit will the links go to the increased times? What if the Logi clone is killed and you spawn in a different suit?
This also applies for the nanos/Caldari Logi as well.
If this has been asked/answered by anyone else, I apologize for duplication. Can you link me the answer?

I don't recall it being answered, but my assumption would be yes, if you switch suits, the bonus from the logi suit that dropped it still applied, but it would be nice to get a confirmation from a dev either way. |

I suggest giving it a test run when 1.8 hits. Or, if you'd like, the Learning Coalition can test that out for you. :)

If your an amarr logi and you throw down uplinks with that suit then your bonus to that equipment applies. It only works with the same suit you have the equipment on. |

I would assume it would work better with the code to let the initial dropsuit's bonus affect the equipment for it's entire lifetime.
I mean, coding so that it would change with every dropsuit would just be added work, I'm assuming, and then imagine equipment spam on a match? It would probably add even more lag as the engine tries to process all that AND the type of bonus they get every time their owner's switch suits.

This was along the lines of what I was thinking... but for a logi that runs several suits... it would be helpful to know if his links are going to go to sheet because he changed suits to scan or throw up hives.

I am assuming the bonus is tied to the suit that deploys the equipment.
The 1.8 changes will force equipment based Logis to run multiple racial suits to get the most out of their toys, and ninja nerfing them would be the last straw that would prompt me to drop Logi altogether. |

XEROO COOL wrote:link to confirm? dont need to confirm, because its 99% true.
in java, when you create objects it takes a variable (in this case your suit) and creats the object with X spawns anytime you spawn on that thing, X gets -1
thats way easyer then to check the suit of the person who droped it over and over.
i did complain about this when they worte about it first time, that people will just spamm the map with uplinks and then use the real suits they play, but people told me that i'm crazy and i should shut up, but i still feel offendet as caldari logi, because i can drop some hives on a big map and thats it, while winmatar will be the new support logi meta, because the bonus of 25 and 50% will be usefull all the time.
why should i play caldari logi if all suits with a equip slot can heal just like me? hell, i'm a logi and i want a shield rep tool to support and not a god dam hive that dies from one grenade... |

I believe you Patrick
but what you just said makes sense.
CCP doesn't make sense, we need a blue tag to confirm.
Just like the date was supposed to be february there was much speculation of date, the only thing that mattered though was the moment they CONFIRMED the 25th for release

I'd believe that the bonus gets tied to the equipment so it wouldn't matter what happens to the clone. CCP stated before that the reason logis didn't have equipment bonuses to begin with was because they were having issues with tying bonuses to the equipment.

always amusing when I see people trying to look clever with internet wisdom but I have bad news for you, you clearly have no clue about programming.
first, this is not related to java at all. and second, it depends on how it is implemented. there are plenty of ways to reference the amount of spawns to the capabilities of the current active suit.

Seems like when you die the links go back to unreduced numbers or so I have heard... maybe it is just the timer that shows the non reduced number... anyone tested this yet?

It's hard to tell, because it seems like the tacnet is not actually displaying the correct spawn times either. It may say 11 sec but it spawns in 3, etc.
What would make sense to me is that the spawn time and counter would be static values that are determined by the suit worn when it is deployed. Same with nano hives and the # of clusters. This would be the only logical way to do it for 2 reasons:
1) The item constantly pinging the suit you are wearing to dynamically determine its attributes is 100% guaranteed to cause even worse lag that the old equipment bug did.
2) For the item to revert to default values every time you switch suits or die renders the bonus virtually worthless. This would be a massive nerf to the amarr and cal logis.
Seriously, can a dev clarify? It's really hard to test if you don't even know the parameters you are supposed to be testing!

I can confirm that the skill for Amarr does not work when using another logistics suit. After skilling into Amarr and Minmatar (lvl5) and the uplinks on my Minmatar suit do not, repeat DO NOT get the speed bonus. The same is true for the Minmatar rep tool bonus on the Amarr suit. Your Amarr software is not compatible with any other hardware.
TL/DR Suit bonuses DO NOT WORK CROSS SUITs

TL/DR Suit bonuses DO NOT WORK CROSS SUITs I knew they never worked cross suit... I was asking if I change suits at any point in the game does my equipment lose the bonus? Does it only happen if I change at a supply depot... what if I die and come back in another suit.

I see how this was misunderstood, your wording is ambiguous, xeroo.
The Dilemma
For deployable equipment (e.g.) Uplinks and Nanohives:
Can I?
1 Skill into A-Logi get the full bonus to uplink timer+spawn count as well as CalLogi and get the full bonus to nanohives
2 proceed to spawn in a Logi A-I, spam my uplinks (which have a bonus to spawn time and spawn count) and then change suit into a CalLogi and spam my Nanohives?
Will the deployed equipment:
Uplinks dropped by a Alogi Nanos dropped by a CalLogi
Retain the bonus that the skills provide?
Spawn counter and timer bonus(for Uplinks dropped by a Alogi Lvl 5) Retain the Max Nanite counter and Resupply % bonus(for Nanohives dropped by a CalLogi Lvl 5)
// on another thread it has been confirmed that this bonus, provided by your Skill Level specced into a race's logi suit, DOES NOT remain with already deployed/dropped equipment(Nanohives/Uplinks) and somebody stated that a blue tag confirmed this in another thread but I'm too lazy to find out which thread...

I also started a thread on this matter. Take a look and contribute if you're interested.
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=152573
My last post from the above referenced thread:
SirManBoy wrote:I feel like I am repeating myself, but I just don't understand the sense in the bonuses for deployed equipment going away after a suit change. I repeat, I am referring to DEPLOYED EQUIPMENT (uplinks and nanohives) only, not scanners and rep tools. I would never expect to keep my Minmatar rep tool bonus or Gallente scanner bonus while in another suit.
Having the bonuses remain active for deployed equipment seems like such a meager concession considering that:
1. It takes millions and millions of SP to fully spec into all of the logi suits and all of the desired equipment. 2. The deployed equipment is now extremely easy to destroy because its HP has been significantly decreased. 3. The dropsuit command respecs caused a lot of former slayer logis to move into other classes leaving behind true support players whose very support capabilities have been diluted by the new suit changes. 4. No one suit can do it all anymore and therefore only the most dedicated members of the class are willing to invest their skill points in all of the logi suits and play in such a way that would allow them to get the most out of all of the equipment bonuses.
I feel like this functionality is such a simple and fair nod to the logi community that it's almost unimaginable that anyone would actively resist its implementation. |
