They lost about 21 million (USD) in 2013 compared to 2012 where they made about 2 million. This difference seems to be mainly from significantly higher R&D costs compared to 2012 (56 vs 16 million, respectively). They're currently sitting at around 104 million in total assets. They also started the year with a total of 506 employees and ended with 530. That's across all their offices.
So yeah, take that for what you will. |

So yeah, take that for what you will. I'm guessing getting Dust up and running was a factor in the higher operating cost.
From what I can see this is a good thing, yes they are down on profits for one year but they have 2 projects in the running that both got started during that financial staement. Dust went into release state and valkerie became so popular it went from proof of concept to full blown game. The fact they are willing to invest at all shows that they are confidant in their earning potentials. |

TV concept likely to not take funding from the studio itself but the tv studio in question.

Yeah, I just want to clarify that I'm not necessarily saying that it's a bad thing. Most products/businesses have to spend and take losses to make money in the long run. Good or bad, this financial statement isn't really capable of giving the whole picture, though (at least not to someone like me). |

Income was up 11 mil with generally consistent operating expenses. It looks like they are taking a risk by rapidly developing Valkyrie and possibly putting more into their other projects to expand their business. If this works out next years R&D should drop to something more reasonable to be replaced with higher income. I wish them luck.

Indeed. Amazon.com shifts investments and development projects around like crazy, and in 20+ years they've technically never made a "profit." It's all about them taxes.

Amazon.com launched in 1995 when there were only 230,000 sites available on the web. They never made a profit until 2001.

Maybe we can get people to finally stop the posts about Eve/Dust dying already?
It shows that they believe their products will succeed by investing so much now for a (potential) future reward in higher profits. A bit risky by that's how you succeed in business. All the power to you CCP (+1). |

Not that bad actually, eve pulls in a lot of money, dust more or less pays for itself through microtransactions, they're working on Valkyrie, they've (I believe) signed a deal for eve online comic books based on player stories, they're working on a tv series and iirc still working on world of darkness.
21m debt isn't that bad when you have assets to cover it and money generating things that can pay off that debt well.... Now if ccp had 4 years like that without good gains anywhere there'd be a problem.
TL;DR watch a few shows on how businesses operate and you'll realize ccp is doing fine for the next couple of years. |

And they invested into a jump starter company with Occulus Rift.
Along with EVE Valkyrie starting up and getting a whole office dedicated to the project. |

Pretty clear they're investing heavily in DUST and Valkyrie development, but had an overall very successful year. Moving from a one-hit wonder company to one with multiple products is a painful transition, and a loss the year it happens isn't a shock at all.
I'd like to be your CPM1 candidate
