I recently started alying dust again, the game is in a lot better place than when i quit several months ago. However the one drawback I've noticed upon return is the rise of autoaim. In CQC fights on the Kb/M it now takes perfect aiming skills to win the fight as the auto aim on controllers makes almost any shot in the vicinty of the enemy player a headshot for the most part.
Either give KB / m users the same magnetized bullets or find some way to level out this playing field. |

However, at this point in the game, the mouse has been effectively nerfed by CCP's input handling, making it incredibly hard to track targets.
On top of that, the DS3 has aim assist.
The current situation is unbalanced because of the unnecessary attempt to balance Mouse and DS3.
Yes, I am blaming auto aim for my deaths, because I do MUCH better in a Blue vs Blue duel than a Blue vs Red duel.
Aim assist is determining the outcome of engagements and needs to be removed. |

This forum post raises a valid concern about a feature that has had a negative impact on gameplay, and you want to call the poster and his corp a bunch of "crybabies"?

I don't notice autoaim. Perhaps that's why I am not super awesome.
I read an article about Tiger Woods in his prime. He tested some drivers and they asked him which one he liked best, he responded, "the heavier one". They said they were all the same weight. But upon weighing them the one he liked was a few grams heavier. It blew their minds.

As someone who never owned a console before buying a PS3 to play dust, PC gamer for 20 or so years using a mouse and not even that hardcore a dust player; DS3 is the way to go.
The mouse is so -awful- compared to any PC shooter ever that its almost like learning a new control method anyway. If you have to do that you might as well use a DS3 and play it on the sofa.

I haven't used the DS3 for shooting since KB/M was enabled during closed beta. This weekend while racking up the 10 matches on some alts who have next to no SP / isk and ran ambushes in starter fits using only the DS3, because I didn't feel like getting my usual KB/M setup together. Aside from the matches where we got rolled by a swarm of tanks and assault dropships my KDR on the noob fits with the DS3 was better than I normally get when running KB/M on my main who has 25 million SP including nearly maxxed out combat and rail rifles. I didn't even attempt to adjust my sensitivity settings and I still did that well.
I'm so unfamiliar with using a stick to aim and look around that I felt like an overweight cow trying to back out of a cattle stall. I'll likely continue using the mouse because I spend most of my time doing logi work, and I find it easier to place things precisely that way with greater situational awareness, but I'm sure if I practiced a little with the DS3 I'd find it just as easy. |

I'll try and find the link but I read on here that kb/m has an intentional 1 second input deley and ccp doesnt plan on changing it

It's a 1 frame delay between the game thread(including input handling) and the rendering thread, and there's some speculation(mine and others) that it's a PART of the problem:
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1918200
My suggestion is that they let the player toggle it or off. I'd rather go 480p and lose the frame delay and get control over my controls again.
If this setting has a positive effect on the Mouse it will also have a positive effect on DS3 aiming, so really it's a win/win. |

all i know is the mouse feels terrible, but i have no muscle memory for controller so am essentially incapable of using them, which is why i use kb/m but it feels entirely inconsistent, and extremely hard to aim, and my aim has to be pixel perfect, and their because of AA has to be meh. leading to me missing SOME of my shots, and them NONE, and so on. and using an SCR i can say that a lot of the issues with SCR SPECIFICALLY would be less severe if like me people could you know miss, if they can't course it's ridiculous, the overheat and heat mechanic assumes you miss some of the shots to reward tactical use, if you don't then it's dumb. just saying i think AA is as much a problem with TTK as the weapon damage is. |

There is an answer to this issue, and that answer is GIMX.
You get adjustable mouse control, custom key mapping, AND auto-aim. |
