This is kinda weird, writing this, I mean. It's has been a long time since I have played this game, and well, . . . I must say it's been a bit of a pleasant kick in the trousers since I have been back. Dropships are still a bit tricky to fly, but our missiles do work now. . . . YAY!!.
The problem is. . . . . well not much, but tanks are a bit too fast, and stop on a dime -->these things are heavy and should have inertia<--, and as forge-guns do deal loads of damage.
Forge guns should deal LOADS of damage at 100m because that's the effective rage of a dropship's missile turret, and, because any Pilot, or tanker who dares get close to any anti-tank/anti aircraft weapon is just asking to die, or get its tracks blown off or wings. -->hint<-- tanks are a bit of a stand-off weapon, well no they really are just a stand-off weapon, or a moving cover position for supporting troops. Dropships are really kinda like CAS/medi-vac/xfil unit, and AHEM ARE ALL SUPPORTED BY INFANTRY! Or well a TEAM!!
O, I have no problem with the reload/charge times for the forge-guns at proto.
OK, OK now here is the kicker! Ooooo the Rail-Tanks!!! o man, o man! he is going to say OMG they are O,P! I mean he is a drop ship pilot right?
Nahh !!! if you shoot anything that can fly with a large bore cannon and hit it, well it's going down sorry. . . I not really sorry but it is true.
Rail-Tanks should do loads of damage but man that large bore swinging titan and all that weapon's grade steel should weigh a crud tone and be hefty right?
I mean, man you spent how much SP on that big rail-tank's gun, and that little bitty forge-guns can do as much damage then you can? O, man you got robed, and she said that's cute and started laughing.
Rail-tank's should have a slower turret rotation speed, long range, small angle of attack, and high damage because its meant to kill other tanks.
Blaster-tanks should have a fast turret rotation speed, short range let say 80m, high angle of attack and high damage at short range because its meant to kill soft targets.
AV, should cost half as much as what it is meant to kill in terms of class for example, militia, advanced, and prototype, this will keep players mission/roll specific in terms of time spent in game kinda like eve.
Well this is just the two barrels of beer on the hull of an assault dropship pilot, and o yes swarms do need a bit of a buff but they should be more like a laser designated weapons system at short range that goes strait too the target/fire and a fast forget system that goes strait to target at short range.
There has been lots of barrels spent on my hull tonight but I like to be honest, these things I mentioned here would fix the game for a lot of people.

Really? You want to nerf forge guns even more? Get bent.
Have you even tried taking down tanks with them? Even crummy ones have a TTK well over 7.5 seconds, and that's with no hardeners active and assuming every shot hits. Meanwhile they can zoom away twice as fast as a boosted scout, AND in the case of a rail tank have infinite engagement range - Los willing.
Dropships are in a much better place now vs. Forge guns as well, so please again, get bent. Gone are the days of instant death vs a breach forge hun. Now you can soak up AT LAST 3 shots. Considering Dropships mobility and flight ceiling vs forge gun 300m range, I think you're doing just fine now.
And to top it all off, due to current forge gun prices, we spend WAY MORE THAN ANY TANK OR DROPSHIP in order to bring you down. Forge fits are NOT CHEAP! and to top it all off, we're already getting hit hard by the upcoming nerf to damage modules, thank you CCP.
So please take your **** somewhere else.
And IWS, maybe you make CCP aware of those points too while you're at it. Seeing as AV has what seems to be no voice on the CPM right now.

the proto forge does deal massive damage vs DS.. it doesnt deserve a OHK vs a fit DS/ADS
if dropship takes that shot at a bad angle it flips the dropship over, there's your wings broke right there
i fly to get shot at by rails it's so i'm not complaining about them as a pilot. it's exciting to me. if i have a gunner/sqd thats a bonus. can we please leave dropships alone for a build or 2.
the problem is the swarms are broken, it's like watching someone on the ground use a breach AR. perhaps double hardening should be looked at. but a lot of players are adapting to tanks and dropships, pilots are engaging tanks along side ground AV, along side other tanks. ground is hell, i have mad respect for the pounders.
u can ban the troll out of the forums but u can't ban the forums out of the troll.

I like the idea of range based damage on AV, so that people actually have to decide where they want to defend against vehicles instead of the current (yet somewhat underused) tactic of "stand anywhere on the map and no vehicles may join the match."
Do that with Large turrets as well and we've got ourselves a more strategic game...
If these balances were implemented I believe dropships would need a slight change as well, such as base the splash damage from small missiles on how far away your shot is, so that we actually have to aim our shots to kill people (currently you just shoot remotely in the direction of infantry & it takes massive splash damage, this would need to stop if AV needed more time and planning to protect it's infantry.)
~ Hopefully CCP takes note, instead of straight damage nerfs to everything, which just leaves the game as boring as it is now. |

Read what i wrote, you do know reading is fundamental, proto dropships can get poped by a forged in a single shot, when the drop ship cant even see the forge gun, because no ground troops cant render at forge gun range. I ask you this, How much is a proto forge and how much is a assault drop ship? now flip that over how about i kill you for every 500k you spend when you cant even see me and lets say gun fit and all i spend 100k.
when did i ask anything to be nurfed? or did i just ask for things to be balanced?

Forge Gunner's spend more money than any Dropship Pilot... Have you seen how much an ADS with nothing on it costs? More than any dropsuit in the game, unless you count Gastun's FG Heavies in which case, yes, your's does cost more.
Of course, I hate that AV sucks, because I use it to varying success against Militia tanks. But, don't act like all Dropships are a dime a dozen.

I wouldn't say you spend more on a forge than a dropship, counting how proto python fits run about 500-590K every single loss. And a dropship is an even bigger SP sink than a forge gun is BY FAR if you actually want to have a full-performance ADS that has better chances in dire situations.
But i agree that forges are on a good level with dropships. I can 1v1 a forge gun in my ADS and 3/5 times I'll win now, or ill come too close to losing my ship and activate my afterburner.
But don't say that forge guns cost more than dropships... cause they don't.
Tankers are being diagnosed with a new disease; Cancer of the Assault Dropship.
Many of them don't survive.

Uhmm.... I have 30 mil into Forge Guns and Forge gun accessories... you telling me you put 30 mil into Piloting Dropships? Maybe once Pilot suits come out I could see that happening.

That sure is a lot of "accessories" core skills don't count brah....I guess you could count your heavy suit and damage mods but really, be honest max forge gun skills probably run about 2-4mil and can be viable around 2-3mil. With assault dropships you need 6mil to have a ship that will survive more than one battle, and they have to survive more than one battle if you want to make money. So 6 mil base for the chassis, the turrets, and the modules, then another 2-4 mil to max it out so yeah, I have spent a lot more sp on my dropship than a forge gunner puts into his gun. Not saying "I'm better" just saying they do require quite a bit more of an sp investment.
Oh and I fly with gunners most of the time and my python fit costs me 707k, that's the price I pay for teamwork because my dropship is only operating at 100Gäà with teamwork. How much does your prototype forge gun fit cost to fight me? |

Still waiting for the real stats on why the rate of fire and splash was nerfed compaired to other heavy weapon and riffle classes. I think this was something CPM or CCP glaused over due to more QQ then reason.
Splash damage needs a buff and ROF needs to return. Any afterburner DS with any sense will loop once and fully recharge health on the first proto forge gun hit. The really good DS toons can easly take down FGrs and our heavy frames get owned by all long range riffles in the game right now.
The Forge performs like a light weapon class and for the money spent isn't worth even fielding half the time. I was a full time forge gunner since we came out of beta, up until the recent changes from the last two builds.
(All you people that post below about how you are pro shots with direct kills I challenge you to play 5 consecutive bushes videod in a row showing how pro you are with no edits. You can even message me in game and I'll do the recording for you)
Forge Changes needed Officer Splash 3.0, Proto 2.7 Advanced 2.5 Standard 2.1.
Original ROF needs to return!

"brah" do you even realize you are comparing a Decked Out Dropship to a single weapon, try comparing dropships to drop suits and maybe we will get somewhere in this convo...
And why wouldn't Core skills count "Brah" Because fitting a Forge at 56/56 pg is a worthless move right...?

My maxed out Flaylock must also go out the window according to your frame of "brah thought" ( which I actually do use successfully to finish off dropships on many occasions)
Apparently the ONLY thing that helps me take out dropships is my Forge ( I'm being sarcastic "brah")

You have my sympathy. It is sort of like when a rail tank 200m into the redline starts shooting at me and keeps me from using my dropship anywhere meaningful on the entire map. It's just a shame that build is gone where I could sit on a tower with nanohives and go 20-0 with an AV weapon and never kill a vehicle. But of course my weapon is supposed to be awesome at everything so clearly it's a shame that my situational weapon is so terribly situational now... |

I feel like the blast radius is fine how it is... And I am saying this as a full time Forger since beta and still am a full time forger after it was double nerfed... And always will be a forger... Even when there is no splash damage left and the only thing I can do is hit direct shots.. I will still be forging. Commitment is what character is made of, you know?
The real nerf that was not needed was the rate of fire being increased.. I used to be able to catch clones falling in mid air about a tenth of the time... Now they hit the floor mostly before I can charge up a shot Since the patch I have only hit about 4 clones falling from the sky :(
We will have to meet up and squad up one of these days so you can see for yourself that forging isn't extinct.

Splash damage needs a buff and ROF needs to return. Any afterburner DS with any sense will loop once and fully recharge health on the first proto forge gun hit. The really good DS toons can easly take down FGrs and our heavy frames get owned by all long range riffles in the game right now.
The Forge performs like a light weapon class and for the money spent isn't worth even fielding half the time. I was a full time forge gunner since we came out of beta, up until the recent changes from the last two builds.
(All you people that post below about how you are pro shots with direct kills I challenge you to play 5 consecutive bushes videod in a row showing how pro you are with no edits. You can even message me in game and I'll do the recording for you) I feel like the blast radius is fine how it is... And I am saying this as a full time Forger since beta and still am a full time forger after it was double nerfed... And always will be a forger... Even when there is no splash damage left and the only thing I can do is hit direct shots.. I will still be forging. Commitment is what character is made of, you know? The real nerf that was not needed was the rate of fire being increased.. I used to be able to catch clones falling in mid air about a tenth of the time... Now they hit the floor mostly before I can charge up a shot Since the patch I have only hit about 4 clones falling from the sky :( We will have to meet up and squad up one of these days so you can see for yourself that forging isn't extinct. fg is definately not extinct. i fear proto forge more than rail tank. at range it hits like a truck. and given the fact that someone skilled up in FG usually has the aiming skills to back it up compared to some redline scrub in MLT railtank.

Do that with Large turrets as well and we've got ourselves a more strategic game...
If these balances were implemented I believe dropships would need a slight change as well, such as base the splash damage from small missiles on how far away your shot is, so that we actually have to aim our shots to kill people (currently you just shoot remotely in the direction of infantry & it takes massive splash damage, this would need to stop if AV needed more time and planning to protect it's infantry.)
~ Hopefully CCP takes note, instead of straight damage nerfs to everything, which just leaves the game as boring as it is now. it takes guess work tho aiming in 3rd person dropship so i can't agree with the part that we're not aiming our shots now. the only way i would agree with your idea is if they improved the nose cannon camera i dont know about the nose camera thing thats how i fly and find it very accurate, |
