when i get REALLY into a fight i can certainly feel the limitations of my suits, if only it could move just a little bit faster, have just a little bit more stamina, have the tinyest sliver of HP more then i could overcome some boundy of sorts. Working as intended. If you had that sliver more health, your suit would be just that little more powerful than it SHOULD be. Those limits are called "balance" because it keeps you from being OP.
Quote:the game mechanics feel limited as well, you start to notice every little hicup in the game because its preventing you from extracting that 1% extra you could get.
Sometimes i get so into the game that everything just starts moving in slow motion, i forget im holding a controller and every control feels like im moving it with my mind, and when it get that into it all the little things become REALLY obvious. that split second delay in movement, that moment where what the game is showing you and what its calculating are two different things.
i also tend to run minmatar suits so the gap between the suits abilities become REALLY aparent and i have to say its a dam good thing my reaction times get so good that i can actually make use of that minor speed advantage to compensate for the other weaknesses.
sometimes its really frustrating when the game just cant keep up with you. and the input lag becomes REALLY noticable. This is a legitimate flaw.
The only game I've played recently where it feels like slow motion is Armored Core. I'm good at that, and when I'm in the zone, it feels amazing. Everything seems to slow down, and I can keep track of everything at once.
A while back, when the online for Transformers: War for Cybertron hadn't been ruined by the failure to competently implement new maps, I had a similar effect in that game. Oddly, Fall of Cybertron, fun as it was, never had this sense of connection for me. Also, Resistance: Fall of Man had me reacting this way. I also felt like everything slowed down while playing the new Syndicate game in co-op mode, although single player I only felt the world slow down when I activated the slow-mo ability.
For DUST, I had that sense of everything working and a connection with the game back in some of the earlier builds, but it's only been a rare intermittent sense that's flickered into life for a few seconds at a time in Uprising. To be fair though, recent builds have made it work more often. |

Working as intended. If you had that sliver more health, your suit would be just that little more powerful than it SHOULD be. Those limits are called "balance" because it keeps you from being OP. not working as intended, since getting that little bit of HP while keeping all your other benifits is a simple matter of switching to caldari :P now a caldari suit saying that would be working at intended... but what i meant by it is that you start to feel the difference between using underpowered suits and useing the overpowered suits. aka i can tell my performance is being held back by not going caldari If you want a sliver more HP, use (insert race A) If you want a sliver more speed, use (insert race B) If you want a sliver more stamina, use (insert race C) If you want a sliver more dps, use (insert race D)
Something like that SHOULD be how it works. Obviously, the balance is off, and some advantages are worth more than others and the weighting on them isn't quite where it should be. So no, not quite ACTUALLY working as intended, but I don't think it's as far off as some people claim. |
