I know I saw a black tank on a Dev blog. So it brings up a question.... Proto Tanks?
I miss the surya and the sagaris... people had some awsome fights with tanks awhile back. So will there be a proto tank? or just a whole bunch of variants?
I want to hear both infantry and tanker thoughts... will it be OP? or do you think a change will come before proto tanks come to the field.

Untill we can get to the point where 1 militia tank does not spell doom for the entire opposite team, NO PROTO tanks. Sorry tankers your stuck in militia till we finally get you balanced, cause right now its tank 514. |

The problem before is we had proto AV and not proto vehicles, so the proto AV was poping the militia and basic tanks. So instead of fixing the lack of tanks CCP nerfed AV and buffed tanks to what we have now.

Yeah. That was back when AV meant Anti-Vehicle and could perform it's roll. Now, because of the torrent of pilot tears flooding the offices and soaking the paperwork, AV means Annoy Vehicle and it has a hard time doing that.
I still can't find tanks on the market. All I see are those HAVs.

If people worry so much about ISK, then why not just make the hulls rather cheap? There, now it no longer belongs to the wealthy elite; tanks are instead for only the dedicated. Scrubs and FOTMers will be ripped apart in their militia/standard hulls and then we got no more tank spam!
I honestly believe tanks should be for the dedicated (and thus require lots of SP). I managed to stick through with my Sica and get my Gunnlogi back when there were Sagaris running around. They only had to look at my Sica and poof, I'm dead. I was determined which is why I stick through; your common scrub though will not be as dedicated.
I don't see much of problem if they are balanced against proto AV properly.

In my oppinion we need proto and advanced vehicles just like in suits and weapons. First it creates a better diversity, since not everybody can efford running prototanks every time. Second it would also mean that proto tanks would actually be the nearly indestructible tanks and not some militia tank, as it was meant to be. third it would also mean that av would get more balanced stats and hopefully more diversed gear. So with a swarmer for instance you could take out a militia tank or standard tank solo, for an advanced tank it would take proto weapons and gear and for proto tanks it would take other vehicles/ team's of proto av (soloing these is pointless). This way it would be better balanced. But when they release these new tier vehicles they should also release an actuall anti-tank vehicle that is made for vehicle/HAV killing and not a combination of infantry and vehicles.
But aslong as vehicles and av are not rebalanced/remade to what they are meant to be all we will do is go in circle's. |

The opposite would be good. Nerfing standard tanks and making adv slightly better, proto just about as good as the ones now.
Edit: Then all we need is a reduction to the max amount of tanks on the field. I'd say 3 is fair.

from an av perspective, adv/proto tank need to be put into the asap, otherwise balance will never occur.
and to those saying tanks are op, they arent. tank hulls are fine (aside from cost), its how the modules and active/cooldowns work that cause the real problem.
in my belief, tanks are thr proto level should have module slots similar to that of suits... ie:
amarr : 3/4 w/ 4200-4500 base armor cal : 5/3 gal: 3/5 mini : 4/4
as once higher tier tanks are in, av will have balance

Actually the forge gun fires a kinetic slug at an approximate muzzle velocity of 550 meters per second. But the projectile has a self destruct device that destroys the projectile at right about 300 meters so vehicles beyond that range won't feel threatened.
I still can't find tanks on the market. All I see are those HAVs.
