why? simple, no point in being invisible when the enemies STILL know when to shoot!

I don't mind this as much as I mind the possibility that AA stays active while shooting a cloaked person.

Only if they someone is carefully scanning an area.
Most people are horribly unaware of their environment.
If they are moving relatively quickly, the red will flash by so fast they won't notice. If they are carefully scanning, you should be able to see that they are looking for you and ambush them before they get to you.
Also, this will only really happen when you are hacking, seeing as how that would be the only time they would know there is an invisible presence. Otherwise, they would just be really freaking lucky to have a steady red rectical on blank space.

Think of it like this:
The cloak field is an active optical camouflage with additional tech to dampen your presence against scanning.
I imagine that the targeting reticle displayed in your hud is cued by a connection with the weapon you carry (which is how it knows to change when the active equipment is changed) and thus there are additional sensors in the hardware. I think the reticle changes to red over a hostile target through a combination of tacnet data sent to us and the "line of sight" sensors in the equipment/hardware. Reds in front of the weapon are registered by the sensor which then gives you the data. This would also explain why you don't see a chevron over an enemy unless you tag them with your weapon.
If CCP was to eliminate the red crosshair i'd say it was more appropriate to do based on distance and the equiped hardware and not just because of the cloak. Red under their max effective range, and the cloak would then drop that further. Maybe you could pick up a cloak by reticle at less than 50m.
The cloak isn't to make the wearer invisible, but to make them harder to spot. I think we'll all be paying way more attention to dark corners from now on.

Removing the Red Reticule will promote corner camping, just take a look at Killzone 3 and how awful it was when everybody was using sniper's cloak.
If you want to camp and be untouchable go play other game

this is where the information denial as result of a low DB profile comes into play. even without a cloak I can make heavies, med frames and most "scouts" chase their own shadow because I almost always know where they're looking while they only get the sound of footsetps at best. Given the right cover and circumstances a good scout is for all intents and purposes, invisible. add a cloak to beat LOS scanning and you've got a rage inducing killing machine.

[EDIT] alright more to the point, if reds are going to be able to tell where we are by the red reticule is there really a point in being invis? can't hide in a corner they'll shoot, can't hide standing still in the open they'll shoot, can however hide in the MCC but thats not useful.
Specially when the enemy knows your around and render your cloak useless by screen swiping.
I think the reticle is there because CCP doesn't know how to disable it.

I've seen a few other games that use that mechanic. They keep that there for the focused players, or if you want to go Scout hunting without a scanner. Either way, if that reticle doesn't turn red, then your ability as a scout more or less becomes scrubby if you can't handle a small cursor turning red when you're in the line of fire. Also, the cloak would become OP without it, as there would pretty much be no drawbacks to it. Think about it, you run up behind me and shoot me with your shotty, and it doesn't kill me. I have the chance to turn around, and use that red reticle to get back at you, giving ME a chance to stay alive. All in all, that reticle is there out of fairness. Edit: Forgot that cloak shuts off when you fire, but nonetheless, my reasoning stays the same as it still does apply. Who knows, you might reactivate it the instant after you fire a shot from behind me.
Your face is something to shoot, so I will shoot. Don't be offended, I do it to everyone.

I really doubt people will be walking around with their sights up 24/7... so I really don't see this as an issue. |

Stand in front of a null cannon, turret, vehicle, another person (preferably enemy) and you will be completely invisible.
No one will put their sights over a friend and pull the trigger...just in case.
Haha this sounds like great fun in FW...scare all the reds into killing each other. |

I don't see this as a problem to be honest. Just remember to not intentionally run in front of the enemy and you'll be mostly fine.

The cloak in killzone is glorious. Cool effects, useful but not overpowered. Really love the blue-green filter and fov zoom.
Only downside to the cloak is the sniper rifle isn't silenced.

There's confirmation that you can hack while cloaked.

once the red knows theres a scout around (killfeed, shimmer, ect) they'll just start spinning circles here and there to detect invis scouts, theres no point since as soon as they get the red and shoot the scout will need to run and its ez to se a cloaked person at sprint.

If they are skilled enough to be able to spin in a circle and recognize the red dot in the fraction of a second it passes over me, and are then able to recall that spot once they are finished spinning, they can have me, they have earned it.
