My challenge, is to run a completely new character for the period of 1 month, and then post your stats. Since it's relatively easy to kill "Protobears" with teamwork, this should be a cakewalk.
However to simulate the NPE, you are not allowed to transfer ISK into the new character, nor are you allowed to run with a squad of players wearing PRO gear themselves, and you are not allowed to use Assault Dropships or HAVs.
If your up for it, then why not eh?

Before open beta ended by K/D was brutal, thanks to players like xxXShotsxx spamming tanks and corps like Imperfects who I could never get away from in Ambush matches. After beta ended, I spec'd into the most OP class I could think of Cal Logi. I ran a pure eHP set up and did quite well for a few months until I got bored. I ended up teaming with a few corps members and a certain female member gave me **** for running Proto gear and since that time I have rarely used it, i don't even have a Proto in my option screen. I rarely squad up, preferring to just login and play a few games a day and not wait around for squads or find a random squad of idiots.
I am by no means elite SP wise (open beta puts me around 14-15m SP), i got bored of running a shotgun cal logi adv and decided I would use my alts to see what builds I might like. I don't know how to transfer ISK to an alt (I have tried but couldn't figure it out, i assumed use a third party) but for the last month or so I've been max'ing out my main weekly SP and in that time I've spend ******* around on my two "alts". Alts are connected to my main, so I don't have another PSN to collect passive SP.
I don't use drop ships or HAV's I simply wanted to see both the new player experience and to use my alt to try CR and RR because it seems everyone else is having a great time with them. I also wanted to try different logi classes in case I decided to spec into them on my main. If you've read my posts you know I am highly critical of the matchmaking system matching noobs with pro's and that seems more the case with my alts running against elite teams than my main who runs FC while alts needs ambush to collect ISK.
My logi K/D is about 3 when using old set up, probably in the 2 maybe 2-2.5 when not ******* around with a light suit and RE which I enjoy using. I had in CoD (3-3.5) before I tried to complete every challenge and unlock every gun and started doing stupid suicide or trick sniper shot. My main old weapon was shotgun with hgh eHP build running hives and nano injector but now like I said i use adv light suit with RE for the past few months.
Alt 1 - 850k SP went into Min Logi and is 1.75 K/D and is half RR and half NK. - this is after I died a hell of a lot day 1 of the challenge. Alt 2 - 1.5 K/D with 800k SP only has medium min drop suit and uses CR and scrambler pistol - only played 10 matches here for clone challenge but also died a lot.
So I did your challenge, i did it for myself month ago and the reasons I stated above. The RR and CR are great guns which are far superior to the AR. The breach shogun are terrible. Its nesrly impossible to kill a heavy with Proto gear on with lv3 CR/RR with one clip. Don't get me started with trying to kill dropships or tanks without turrets.
I really hope to get additional 1m SP on both alts and use the suit re-spec to get my alts into Min Scout RR/NK and Cal Scout CR/ScP both at advanced.
The new player experience is horrible, very difficult both gameplay (matching up against Proto gear, superior SP, elite corps like outer heaven, NS, and several other stompers). It's probably compounded when the game is new, I struggled a lot coming from CoD while I think if you came from xbox's Halo the struggle would have been less. 1. Improve matchmaking, everyone should have equal chance to kill each other, each team should have equal chance at winning, and everyone should be matched evenly via k/d wo & SP. 2. New player experience has to be improved. Give new players up until 3M SP in a battle training ground, let them use all weapons at std and all suits at lv1 and after the 3M give them a re-spec.

It seems like most of the Proto stomping community plays Dust because they got owned in BF and CoD. Instead of playing on even ground they seek games like Dust because they need a major advantage over others to be competitive. Aren't good in CoD well I have a game where if you pay 60$, the same price as a CoD game, you can be better than everyone without requiring the skill. Don't have the ability to play FPS, how about we set you up in a tank, nothing like BF where you can get owned in vehicles but this game you can suck and still put up numbers because no one can harm you outside of other elite players. And ofc you dont have to worry about other elite player because elite dont play vs elite the py just exit the lobby when they see each other.
Nothing but people who can't cut it in other FPS, they use Dust and a steroid type boost to their "skill" from their massive SP. There are some great players, but great players don't use a crutch... No need for superior gesr, no need for superior team or squads... Real FPS pick up a controller and play and they sit around and wait for other losers with high SP to join their squads to stomp on newbies who no matter their skill level aren't going to compete with high SP teams spamming Proto gear, 6 tanks etc...
So before you enter a conversation about having about how to improve the game by trying to experience somewhat what it is like for a new player to join dust, maybe you should stop relying on your crutch to get by and man up. Its tiring to see what bitches most of the elite community is, crying about a few red line sniper or refusing to embrace a fair and balanced matchmaking system. But then again, being fair isn't why you play dust 514, it's because for the most part the uneven matches and the thrill of killing a player under 3m SP is rewarding because you couldn't kill anyone with regularity in other games. |
