So sick of people crying over other people wearing proto gear, it's digusting how big of scrubs you are.
When I first started playing this game you only had proto if you had the skills. There was no loyalty points, it was either you had the gear or you didn't. This made proto squads so much more vicious.
Now more than ever the playing field has been leveled. You can literally play this game for just a few weeks and have a very strong character. There's no excuses now, as long as you have advanced gear you can run the proto variant.
If you want to run cheap gear then you have no right to complain about what others run. I don't when I die in a BPO fit to a proto suit. I either load in another and try again or I step my game up and bring in a proto and even things out. It's that simple.
Now if you want to complain about how much money was made in PC by locking districts and how the economy is now broken because big corps with gobs of cash have no consequences when running proto gear. Then yeah, now I'm with ya :)

Nothing Certain wrote:Yeah, a guy with 5 million SP should kick the ass of a guy running proto with his proto squad behind him running scans non-stop with a dropship overhead and a tank controlling the open ground. You are such an inspiration.
If you spend your points wisely then you can easily compete. Squad up bud, this isn't COD.
I play primarily solo, so what I do is join a squad in game. You'd be surprise how many people run around squadless.... |

John Demonsbane wrote: Well, that is the whole point. Proto wasn't as big a deal in the past because it wasn't financially sound to do it 24/7. If they wanted to run the risk of proto suits, go for it. But now that a good chunk of people are so rich they don't even have a single non-proto suit in their fitting list, it's just crazy.
(Also, it's terrible for new player retention, but thats a philosophical issue. Some people take the HTFU/ it's new eden scrub philosophy too far. I love the cutthroat mentality but not to the point that it hurts the viability of the game)
How long you been playing? Proto gear was a bigger problem back then because no new players had access to it. All the guys from beta literally ran around stomping everyone.
ISK wasn't an issue back then because payouts were way higher. Also there wasn't a squad finder, so finding a good squad to run with was way tougher.
The game has gotten a lot easier for new players, people need to quit with the complaining. |

I started playing shortly after the game was released, I came around when it was TAC AR 514. I couldn't stay alive for more than a few seconds without being two shotted by a TAC AR. I encountered plenty of full proto squads and I remember being pissed because I didn't have proto and there was literally no answer for them.
Now, if you have advanced gear and get stomped you can go get proto real quick in faction warfare. It's a lot easier, I made an alt and skilled into everything I needed to be relevant on the battlefield in less than a month. I ran just a few ambushs for money, the rest faction warfare and after a few weeks I had over a 150 proto suits. I had an adv weapon, proto damage mods, adv scanner and adv hives on a proto suit and I was stomping people.
Now I know what I'm doing, where the new player makes mistakes. That's makes a difference, but yeah it's possible to be a bad ass in a very short amount of time where before it would take two months of grinding without any boosters just to get a proto suit. |
