Since the end of beta and beginnign of the 'launch' I've used only gallente suits, mainly just because I made my character gallente. Stuck with the AR because its gallente, only really gotten a few other weapons to level 1 like the HMG, RR, CR, SR and some others because I wanted to try them out and take part in events run by CCP. I had proto gallente logi and level 3 assault and scout.
Now there are new heavy and scout suits coming out, and a few new weapons, and really, I'm thinking about switching to caldari, or maybe even minmitar.
The suits feel like they give more versitility and the weapons feel more fleshed out and generally better than teh gallente. So, are there any other gallente players out there who can keep me on the gallente path? What are the upsides of gallente vs the other races dropsuits?
Should I stick with gallente suits and just drop the AR for other weapons? Or will Caldari assault with a RR and magsec SMG/ or Minmitar assault with CR and SMG be the way to go? |

The Gallente scout is probably the best scout. The Gallente heavy is likely to be a very solid contender in its class. The Gallente assault is terrible, don't use it. The Gallente logistics will likely be pretty decent.
All the Gallente weapons are pretty awful, though. AR is the weakest of the rifles, shotgun is meh (though good on a scout), IoP is awful, plasma cannon is awful. IMO, consider Galscout/Galheavy and use a combat rifle/HMG.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

Well, now that all assault suits get a bonus to all light/side weapon reduction, then it should be easier to if a CR/ScR/RR...soooo we got that going...
Also a built in armour repair of 2 per second...and the worst or 2nd worst base states of any Assault suit...and a quite terrible bonus...
Screw it, go Caldari and stack armour plates. Unless Gallente get some extra armour, or a good bonus...I'd say go Caldari.
Or you can stick it out with me, and CatMerc.

I've been running Gallente since Uprising as well, I'm personally switching to Minmatar.
The Logi's bonus is perfect for me. And isn't too far of a departure from what I'm used to.
I see the Assault as a major challenge based off of what I've been doing for a year, switching from 4 lows/3 highs (with equal shield extenders, armor plates, and reps (aka 2 of each)) to 2 lows/5 highs means a whole new play style.
And I'm finally picking up a Scout suit, still debating which (not Caldari).
I say just got with what appeals to you.
xSivartx is my Heavy. There are many like him, but he is my own...
So, other Logi's back off, those are my Warpoints!

Yeah the commando gets a damage bonus, but then all of the commando also get damage bonus. It seems like in the current game, shields are generally really easy to take down and people stack more armor than shields, so weapons that already get a bonus vs armor feel like they are better, so the rail rifle has been dominating, so then the caldari commando again looks better than gallente commando because of the range of the RR and the bonus vs armor the RR gets. |

The Minmatar Assault is pretty bad. Imagine all the negatives of scout suits, but no stealth. Also, in 1.8 they're getting their built in repper removed.

Use Knives because they're awesome.
But I mostly use shotty and smg. Soon to be replaced with Ion Pistol. |

I'm not actually sure. I'm inclined to believe that all of them are pretty good (though not fantastic), but they're quite specific to the weapons you use.

The gallant assault is decent if you play it like a scout with more slots to mess with. I don't know whats going on with the new 1.8 bonus, but we'll be keeping the CPU/PG for weapons (and gaining the same bonus for things other than hybrids like any sidearm). 1 Complex rapper, 1 complex profile damp, and 1 kin cat and you'll be fine.
The bonus to hip fire dispersion MIGHT give some range and concentrate damage for the shotty (Big MIGHT thereGǪ) And it also might turn the assault rifle into a needle of death (which I would like).
Maybe the commando bonus will make the PLC a viable anti-shield AV weapon for those pesky Gunnlogis?

Advanced has two highs and lows. It's a work of art or as someone else called it the Swiss Army Knife of Sentinels. I'm strongly considering making the Advanced my go-to Frame. Just the idea of a precision enhancer, heavy complex damage mod, complex repper, and a kin-cat leaves me salivating. Trying to keep pace with a mobile squad is bad enough as is.
Here, have some candy and a Like. :-)

Gallente scout=best scout Gallente heavy=best heavy/tied with the amarr heavy (depends on if you wanna be an anti-heavy heavy or not) Gallente commando=good only with a duvolle and if your a really good shotgunner Gallente logi=current FoTM, will be very good next patch as well for scans Gallente assault=return of the Duvolle TAR, will be nasty with the ion pistol as well (seriously guys-stop complaining. You get an amazing slot load out, and a great bonus) Plasma rifle=incredibly good inside its optimal, however, its optimal is about 40 meters (which is fine if you know how to use cover and don't try to take on people at 80 meters) Plasma Cannon=horridly underpowered to the point of laugh ability Shotgun=Good weapon if you know how to use it, however, is completely unforgiving, and equivalent DPS to an AR Ion Pistol=Probably a shot pistol

Probably the most accurate input out there, though why would one use an amarr assault without the scrambler anyways? Also I think the amarr logi will be a great asset come 1.8.

EDIT: Some predictions on the other suits:
Caldari scout: Solid option. worst scout, no low slots for dampeners, speed mods, or anything else scouts need, plus extenders are bad and damage mods are getting nerfed. Also a ****** bonus that only helps detecting already easy to detect medium suits. Caldari assault: Not very good. Caldari logistics: Solid option. Caldari heavy: Very solid option, contender with Gallente heavy for best heavy. seems good on paper, but it will take forever to regen shields fully and is highly vulnerable to flux nades. The 1 sec recharge delay is a typo, it's actually 4 seconds.
Amarr scout: Terrible. not as bad as most make it out to be. Sure it has a subpar bonus, but it still has the most EHP and can bunny hop like a kangaroo, plus it has low slots to fit anything a scout could need. Amarr assault: Terrible unless you use SCR in which case it could be a solid option. Amarr logistics: Mediocre. Amarr heavy: Mediocre-good. by far the best heavy, with the most HP, resistance to HMGs and all projectile weapons, and reppable HP base, which means that it's the best in a squad and will always win 1v1 with another heavy.
Minmatar scout: Pretty decent. Depends on your playstyle, but personally I think that it looks like a fun suit. just slightly OP, thanks to having a massive amount of passive bonuses over the other scouts, even without skills. Fitting is still meh, but not as critical due to all the bonuses. Minmatar assault: Terrible. Minmatar logistics: Good. Minmatar heavy: Eh. I'm uncertain. FTFY.

I'd say gallente because of the awesome gallente heavy, but I'd be lying because it's so ugly. Go cal scout or gal scout. The gal cal assault suits are awful. Cal sentinel is pretty good. Logis are worthless now unless you want to use them as assault suits. They're better assaults than anything else.
