Remember how you could tell your PC friends that this game is all kinds of awesome and it has a future (chromosome looked bright) but they responded : "I am not playing an FPS with a controller". And then you would smash right back with the mouse support. I can't do that anymore as I would not lie to my friends about it being actually supported. People actually like the idea behind dust but they aren't going to use a thing that aims for you...

Your point is invalid as PC gamers do not have friends.
We can pickle that.

The frame rates are so choppy right now when using mouse it's almost unbearable... On 3 Different PS3's same result... 100mbps Internet, 4k TV, SSD...
Grab the Eagle eye and it improves a bit...
Put a Circle of Car Autobody masking tape on my rathe large mouse pad then made that same circle over and over.. and my character actually ended up 180 degree's turned around...Intsead of just looking at a wall and doing consistent circles...
Grab the Eagle EYE and then circles are consistent..
Example of what Good Mouse and Keyboard support looks like with the Best emulator on the market. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=nhHOMPqwNkw#t=256

Mouse is for noobs! Get yourself a Wacom Tablet!!
But on a more serious note, you could just turn the autoaim off. |

Having just started playing again i really noticed some strange shenanigans with kb/m. It really has gotten clunky, granted i still need to brush a ton of rust off *hell i still hit the wrong butons and it sends me into an auto movement/ map screen that i can't get out of *but the mouse is very very sketchy. So much so i have been pondering getting an eagle eye or ebaying a xim edge.
I also noticed a weird "stutter" when you get shot. Ocassionaly when getting hit your character will literally stop moving when being shot for fractions of a second. Not just on the ground but in the air when jumping too. Almost like physics of a moving body has rapid brain farts.
Over all though coming back has been fun, those rifles hurt so bad! this 1.7 era reminds me of when AR's had scopes and light weapon range proficiency. Anyone not using them died in 2-3 bullets at sniper like ranges and god forbid if you had 2 people looking at you. |

Are you still using the shotgun? How are you finding it?
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

Anyone not using them died in 2-3 bullets at sniper like ranges and god forbid if you had 2 people looking at you. I've been playing M/KB the entire time and you're right. Mouse controls have gotten progressively worse. It's really evident in CQC when trying to stay on target. There's this weird input delay that is typically compounded with horrible framerates that makes target tracking really hard.
I've never had these kinds of problems tracking targets with M/KB. Hell, I play a game called Natural Selection 2 semi-competitively that involves shooting insanely fast wall-crawling aliens (actual players). That game is like THE testament to target tracking. Then I jump in this game and it feels like everything is in slow-motion and my mouse is a quarter to half second behind my actual movement. It's really frustrating.
I will tell you, though. I got an Eagle Eye from a friend who no longer used his and haven't put it down since. It's still kinda clunky because it quite literally is emulating the controller meaning you get speed turning caps. After messing with the settings for hours I've gotten it to feel pretty close to 1:1. The biggest thing is you can turn aim assist on and marvel at the difference it makes. To all those naysayers that say AA doesn't even affect much, the difference with a mouse with and without aim assist is the difference between using an aimbot and being a complete scrub.
AA seems to even falsify hits sometimes. Like I'll quite literally not even have my crosshairs on someone and AA seems to curve my bullets to make them hit the target. I really feel ashamed that I had to resort to using the Eagle Eye, but until CCP can give us proper mouse controls this is the only way I see fit.
CCP gave the DS3 AA to compete with M/KB, and here I go and turn it around on them for an even bigger edge. Then again, I would happily use their M/KB scheme if they would fix the damn input delay and fix these ******* framerates.
Let me play you the song of my people!

^Amen. infact today being saturday im going to call fry's electronics in phoenix to see if they happen to have eagle eye's in stock. one for me one for annie.
@ Arkena as for the shotgun i will never put it down, though it is really hard to use at the moment. The range is now moot and the shields still glimmer at times on a dead on shot but it still can drop people like mad. I can't wait for 1.8 to see if using it on scout makes me love it but damn ccp has taken the shot gun, strung it up like a pinata, and taken its nerfbat with nails in it tot he poor thing. I'm pretty sure i can't be as deadly as i was before i left but i will continue to struggle and see if i can't get close to where i was. It really is hard to compete with all these rifles though, they kill so much faster its just hard to watch. Was just in a match where a proto user with mods just took 3 guys out back to back with like 3 rounds each. he didn't even reload or bat an eye. Just pop pop pop, all dead as if it was the most normal thing in the world. And there i was wondering.... "where did all the intense 1-1 combat or insane jumping around to live go?" Makes me miss the older builds but thats not to say i don't like all the new things that have come about. I guess im just greedy in wanting fights between 2 people to last longer than .5 to 1 second. |

We where just spoiled for a while with a taste of intense chess matches that even a std suit could partake in. |

This made me lol. Then it made me get a tear in my eye because it would probably work better than any mouse ever will on PS3+UT3...

Im loving all the KB/M threads, and im sure anyone who has seen my lil rant about bringing KB/M players to Dust already knows my opinion. TLDR CCP has lost players over nerfing the Kb/M how many ? Hard telling.
But improving this input could only help especially how close nit and dedicated PC players tend to be.. (Not a master race outlook) There are hard facts that PC FPS players tend to stick to a game longer then 6months to a year lifespan Console players are bred to play on.. |
