Hello there CCP. I am curious what the general guidelines are there when something happens in DUST on whether there should be a refunding/respec of SP in a given Skill or Skill Tree? Is this something that could be shared with the community or is it a same line that exacts with obscenity: "I know it when I see it"?
Not looking for an argument or to complain (in this post); just want to get as much insight as possible on how the SP system is viewed. |

This is a complex subject. CCP has stated they view respecs as disruptive to the player community, so they originally were only planning on giving a single SP refund once the content reached full racial parity (suits, weapons, vehicles, and other).
The 1.7 update necessitated a vehicle SP Refund because many skills were simply being yanked for the update and other skills were being merged into one (Gallente Lav and Caldari Lav skills became Lav Operation). A refund was viewed as necessary as Scout Lavs, Enforcer Havs, Logi Lavs, and Logi Dropships were no longer in the game.
1.8 will change game styles but won't result in many role variants simply disappearing. But the public raised a stink so now we're getting a drop suit command SP Refund.
So basically we got an SP refund in 1.8 because of 'Vox Populi, Vox Dei'.
The most OP weapon on the Dust Battle Field:
One good logi, one rep tool, and a heavy.

Nothing wrong there; was just wondering if it was an actual guideline or it is just subjective. |

COMMON SENSE says if you totally change something you should allow people to rethink the choice they made long ago.
But we all know CCP doesn't think in this way...
