It is a really tough line for CCP to walk in this game. How do you state "your choices are important; live with them" and offer any kind of refund? Them giving out a refund for Dropsuit Command was a necessity to the core. I could not imagine the outcry there would be if that happened. Balance changes are simply going to happen. Asking for a respec when something you put points into was changed is kind of silly. Something too powerful today will be underpowered tomorrow and hopefully balanced next year. When it comes to the non-full infantry SP refund, there are arguments that are better and more substantial than "I want a full SP refund so I can spec into something playable." I mean no deep insult but that is extremely selfish and childish to say.
Because of the link to racial weapons that Commandos and Assaults now have, being a Minmatar X with a non-Minmatar weapon is simply at a detriment. That is the same kind of problem that Heavies had: "If I could have gone Minmatar Commando/Assault with a Combat Rifle, I would have. However, it was Amarr + AR or bust." A shame and I hope there is some kind of weapon refund down the line, maybe once there is deeper racial parity, but for now I will grin and bear it.
Sorry to see that you are so frustrated with a game you clearly enjoy. I hope you can overcome the frustration and get back to having fun sometime soon.

How can they say our choices are important when they change the functionality of the things we chose?
I was simply playing Devi's Advocate on that part, mostly because it is a hard line to walk.
Functionality of things, at least in regards to what they are meant to do and how they work, hasn't change for basically anything in DUST. Effectiveness has. The AR wasn't suddenly made to work far differently than it did; its range and damage have been reduced. Grenades have not been changes in regards to working differently than they did; you are just holding one less. Functionality of vehicles was changed, which is why a respec was given there.
As I said, I was in full favor of a respec for Dropsuit Command and Weaponry (little wishy-washy on Dropsuit Upgrades). The functionality of nothing, at least in regards to how it works, has changed but I feel enough has changed overall to warrant a refund for those two things.
Though, as the OP so clearly stated, this thread is about disrespect and not about the news we got a couple days ago. |
